Grow project with pics

Doing a grow project with some help from a close friend, and I felt like posting my results thus far, which aren't all that amazing. There are 3 cakes total so far, just waiting a couple days for at least one more to join the chamber. Out of the three in the chamber only 2 are fruiting, you should see by the pictures there is one cake with nothing, nothing at all.

The first pic is the cake that is barely fruiting, the second two are of the cake that is doing well, and the last two are the cake that sucks balls.
Ahh forgot quick question for all you pros out there. I want to LC the first big one I get, but I don't recall the process (it's been a while since I have done this before). anybody got a link to some directions, I am sure the answer is somewhere out there, I just need a link to find it :p (or you can post the instructions, but that sounds like a lot of work) :p

Nice work, grats on your shrooms.
Try the dunk & roll technique in the future for better pinning. What kind of fruiting chamber are you using?
It is difficult to make clean lc's from a shroom because the risk of contamination is high. IMHO spores are easier without all the testing and failures.

Yeah, I am using a Shotgun container that I "stole" from one of my friends pics below:

The last time I grew I did do LC's that turned out really well. I am interested in cloning, because I am trying to isolate my genetics to have a more reliable growth the next time around. I learned this process from a friend, but alas I have forgotten it, and not sure if I will see him before it would be time to clone. over the years and I do not want to screw it up...lol I know it involved a large mason jar, a marble, honey I believe (not sure how much).

is that your sgfc? do you have holes on the bottom? it needs to be elevated so air can flow.

Thats really not all that bad, at least not to me. Check out this thread, has all kinds of teks and you can ask questions and have them answered by a group of experienced users. It's pretty sweet:http://www.shroomery.org/forums/remlinker.php?Cat=&Entry=114169&F_Board=255&Thread=14297019&Main=14297019

Yeah there are holes on the bottom....I will have to elevate it. As soon as I find something to stick under it to give air flow to the bottom. (I am sure I will find something)Quote:

you'd probibly have better results if you had dunked and rolled your cake. and also you either handled it too much or its severely dehydrated judging from the bluing.
but overall great job

I can always dunk them after this flush, for a second flush and hope for some better results. They might be dehydrated a little but I try to mist water in the chamber as often as I can. As far as the "Dunk and Roll" what am I rolling it in?
EDIT I just found a link. I now know the answer it vermiculite. With all the extra help from everybody that responded I am sure my next endeavor will be much better.

well i find from past experience that the bruised spots (blue spots) will not produce pins as often.
you said you mist as much as you can. are you misting the cakes directly at a close range? do you let water pool on them?
just asking to know why they have bruised in order to help you next time

I try to mist above the container, so to speak, to let the mist fall in but not to pool on the cakes, which I am told is not good to have the water pool on them.

and you were told correct. the added verm roll would probibly have been wise to do at birthing it and would probibly have prevented the bruising if it was cause by dehydration .

if you get a few bucks i would consider rebuilding that sgfc. There are supposed to be 1/4 inch holes on all six sides spaced evenly every 2 inches. A proper sgfc will keep humidity high and allow ample fresh air.
You can see the fluffy mycelium around the base of the shrooms, this is caused by lack of fae. The blueing could be caused by low humidity but there are many ways a cake can be bruised.
this setup obviously works but there are definitely improvements that could be made.
