Hello, Recently I found a whole bunch of subbs in cow dung when I went to my brother in laws, I was wondering if i can find subbs in horse dung other than cow dung because I live right next to a whole bunch of horses. Also. I need some information on how too dry these and how to preserve them. Also, how many should i eat? I weigh 115 pounds and am 5.5. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Subs don't grow on cow dung, as far as I know. Least never seen them myself... They do grow on horse dung... Or horse mature fertilized sod... New grass areas
If you post a picture, and do a spore print, can iD it They are very weak... Very. 6-10 gm dry weight would be a start

Wikipedia said: Panaeolus cinctulus is a cosmopolitan species that grows solitary to gregarious to cespitose on compost piles, well-fertilized lawns and gardens, and rarely directly on horse dung

HarryL is right though, post a pic and take a print to confirm. dont eat them until you get an ID on this site

As for drying method, this is the one i use and it works very well for very low cost. it does take 24 hours though. i usually use a wife-beater type shirt (black A-shirt) and 2 clip up reflector dishes with 60 Watt bulbs all of these materials can be bought from walmart for less then $20
from www.shroomery.org/6253/Cheap-and-Easy-Drying-Without-Desiccant

Shroomery said: I have listened to all the ranting about what temperatures are to be avoided and how long it takes to dry in a desiccant box. I've got one heck of a nice and quick way to dry shrooms without hurting the content of the alkaloids by any appreciable amount!
You need the following things: a black T-shirt, a "clip up" work lite with a reflector dish (available for around six dollars at most good hardware stores) and 60 watt bulb, and some paper towels.
Take your guys and lay them out on paper towels (you only need to use one layer of towels). Next take the black T-shirt and place it on top of the 'shrooms (black is used because it transfers the heat from the bulb better than other colors, plus it keeps light from possibly degrading the alkaloids). Now clip the light fixture on any handy object so that the reflector is about 18-24 inches from the T-shirt. Turn that puppy on and in 24 hours or so you will have cracker-dry shroomies!!!
I dry around 50 fat Amazonians at a time with this method, and never could tell any difference between fresh or dried potency (taking into account 90% weight reduction for the water loss of dried shrooms)!

i am aware that wikipedia sometimes contains un-reliable information, especially with mycology related stuff, but the info on habitat is almost identical to the info here on the shroomery, so i just linked to that instead.

Suppose cow dung is possible, just never seen it... Seen non active Pans on cow dung plenty
Take it for what it's worth Not many pans are active and mis-identification is pretty common

Finding them growing in manure piles with cow dung is highly possible! The pile can not be to fresh either, there has to be some at least 2year old manure in there preferably.

Preservation and propogation: Why not make spore prints; and knock loose some spores onto agar and have a mycelium party?
Once it gets roudy cut it out and isolate them strong rhizomorphic strains and clean em up to finally nocc up some jars, then tubs?

Anhydrous Magnesium sulfate can be used to desiccate the fruit-bodies; it is easily created by cooking Epsom salt in the oven.
Blessings.
