To humid? Stem Base/Fuzz Blue-ish/ing (pics)
    #15181344 - 10/05/11 01:00 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Is this a sign of to much humidity? it seems to be debatable by previous discussions.

There is slight blue-ing around the bases of most along with more than normal fuzz.

Misting and Fanning 3-4 times per day.
Uneven pinset because to much ambient light and FAE before fruiting.

I think your tub needs to be redesigned. Either make more holes that size like a SGmono or make bigger holes at substrate level like a monotub. You kinda have a cross between the two.

mushrooms bruise blue, especially when you play with them/pick them. sometimes even when you mist them.

youre not too humid.

but why in the hell did you punch out holes in that tub instead of drill them out and stick polyfil in the holes like a normal person?

LOL. The sub was too wet and wasn't colonizing. The holes were a fast and dirty job with an electric drill. As it turns out, drill bits don't exactly work well... so no further attempted holes or hole enlargement was made. (and polyfill was the plan until the drilling results)

As for playing with them... tub has been stable and in place since pins.

I am curious about misting being the cause. A water hose is not used so they don't really get beat up by water.... however, misting does occur on everything.

Thanks 4 reply.  If something evil comes of the bluing stem bases, will update.

If the stipe is extra fuzzy with Mycelium growth you need to introduce more fresh air exchange. IMO

If you have trouble drilling holes, drill a pilot hole and then go with a bigger bit

What you need is a hole saw or go with heating up a tomato paste can and melting a hole in it. The latter recommend version really blows so I would get the hole saw if you can..they are relatively cheap. You need about 4 2 inch holes on each side along the substrate and 2 2 inch holes on the other side at the top(just a little down from the lid).  Stuff it with poly fill afterwards.

Tomato paste can method is my favorite. There's something so very satisfying about melting a perfect circle.

I even made a bunch of different sized rings using old wire hangers... think cattle prod, but circular.

No.  Insufficient fresh air.
