    #1517435 - 05/03/03 01:13 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

ok so the  the mushroom cultivator  rocks......like a bible for the mushroom growing masses.  are there any books out the for the ethnobotanical folks?  i know there has to be a few......something that gives a nice overview of the different plants, maybe some growth perameters and such.  list the books on this thread if you would, and maybe whether you highly recomend it, or just kinda do.  thanks

well....jonathon ott's _pharmacotheon" is one heavy-duty tome, on the plant & chemical side (but not on cultivation...)(although some of the references in the back may have cult. info...)
the booklet _growing the hallucinogens_ by hudson grubber (may be available online in html) has some info on some plants of interest...
the catalog from j l hudson has info on the seeds that he sells, but most of his stuff is not psychoactive plants (but most of them are indeed of ethnobotanical interest...
and the catalog for richter's also has growing info...
prolly buncha info online here & there, just gotta poke around...

'Growing the hallucinogens'
look here

I don't have this book so I don't know if it's any good. it just sounded like what you were looking for.

I don' t really think there is one definitive book, more like a couple used together.

Plants are plants mostly - any good garden book can be used to tell you most things such as taking cuttings, growing from seed, grafting , all the above with succulents and cati are usually covered too.

Poppies and plants like Phalaris and desmanathus definietely need extra info
but in general i like this site for its growing info under each species

www.alchemy-works.com

And NO i am not in any way commercially affiliated with this company, nor have i ever oredered from them. I know people who ahev and they say theyre good.
I just like their info.
