Stacking cakes?
    #15173092 - 10/03/11 06:18 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I've seen many pics of people stacking pf cakes. Just curious and was trying to gather some info about the subject.

Does it hurt your yield at all? What if the cake was about 6'' wide... square... and about 2'' thick.... made of rye berries and verm?

I have no clue how it works... but it just seems to me that if you covered up all that area with another cake... then only left the 2'' edge... that might not be quite as good. But I dunno... could be that it would pour out the same yield.

Whats the deal?

Thanks in advance.

it works well, just be sure to put a peice of foil between the two cakes so gravity doesnt leach the water from the top cake into the bottom one and it dries out

You would have more surface area for pins to form on if you didn't stack them. However, if you're short on space or just want to stack another layer of cakes on go for it.

This thread is supposed to have some good tips regarding that but I can't access it yet.

i am very curious about this as well.

i have an idea for a tall cylindrical FC about 3 times as wide as a mason jar and a yard tall. i figure if i can find a clear PVC and something to use to hold cakes in the center, i think you could stack the cakes straight up in some kind of wire frame and they would fruit to fill the FC without wasting very much space at all.

of course, humidifier and lighing etc in my idea as well... just too much to type right now.
