A Cockrobin's casing...
    #1517308 - 05/03/03 11:53 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

A friend of mine and his cockrobin have this situation (pic.) at their first attemp to have some T3 fruiting.

Grains cased with 60/40 tek.
Almost a month trying to get them fruiting!!!

What's wrong? Since I've never cultivated myself nothing else than eryngi I don't know what advice to give to him...

Would anybody please help? Do you think that's overlay?
What's next step?

Casing is colonized all over the tin-foil-box and is spreading over the tin walls too.

It's fluffy and cloudy and ryzo at the same time (and it doesn't look like cob-web).

Help me helping my friend not letting down the little cockrobin.

Thanx

The casing has been cold shocked two days before the pic, just in case it would help...

It's hard to say what's wrong...
Look at the following link and sublinks about patch-casing & overlay

Hope it helps...

Good luck!

I hope that you got your casings under control.

Yes the one is overlayed.
You would take a sterile fork and slice X's in it and add more casing material to it.

The other one is working on overlaying.

Hope they work out for you.

good luck!

Its called "scratching" and may be a good idea in this case. The fork will break up the possible overlay and will stimulate renewed active mycelium growth. This combined with a little more casing material, followed shortly by a renewed pinning period may get this to fruit. Scratch, recase (not too much) and let it recover for a few days with NO air exchanges or light. Then restart fanning and let it get some light.

Thanx very much to everybody. I'll have that little stupid bird to try re-casing that!
