As good as this policy gets this system is still flawed, it's good to get criminality out of the streets... That's the only reason they emerged anyhow, I haven't been that long around but Amsterdam supposedly was one big shithole in the 70's. In every shop they push the fact that harder drugs are not allowed there!

Other then that I think it's still very doubtful that they will change to policy for foreigners and even if they do i'm not affected because the actual surrounding countries of Netherlands aren't affected by the new law if it'd even go through... It's only maastricht that wants to go through with it every other council and especially the Amsterdam one just flipped the finger to it

I bought weed in Amsterdam two weeks ago and I can't find anything about this on Dutch growing/weed forums, as a matter of fact the latest news item today is that the so called "weed pass" won't go through at all (says experts)

Coffeeshops should always ask for ID, they have to close if they sell to an underage and they get caught.

get your facts straight before making me paranoid :mad2:

So Amsterdam won't get foreigners high?  Hmm, sounds like a better reason for American tourists to spend their money in America and visit California.

Yeah!  I never figured this one out... I mean there's some dank weed all over the world, you don't have to fly to netherlands for it.   You don't even have to visit cali, there are just some nice beaches and forests up north to see if you want to go 'touristing'

I take issue with the idea that my thread title is "scaremongering".  I found news articles that were titled similarly or made statements exactly like the title of this thread regarding this issue.  From the Dutch people who have posted here, it seems that the idea that coffeeshops are seeking to ban "drug tourism" is indeed an accurate way of putting it.

Sure, I find this idea scary as well, but it's not scaremongering to simply relay what multiple credible news outlets - as well as individuals from the area who I keep in touch with - are all reporting.

Said reputable news agencies are scaremongering, there is a possibility it will happen for sure but it has definitely not happened or happening as the tense of your verse implies

If you could state your sources on the Amsterdam banns i would be much appreciative to confirm or deny the validty of the post/thread

I can undertsnad the stance, it makes me cringe when i see 99% of the tourists in and around amsterdam, especially when i consider that this is the impression that 90% of Nederlanders have of people from my country, it made making friends in the netherlandse a little difficult until people ghot to know me.

I think it should work on a behaviour level, instead of tarring every stoner with the same shit stick indiviuals should earn their own bann.

A whole new job would be created, the Toruist Behavioural Integrity Warden (TBIW) would patrol tourists areas with radio link to coffeeshops and pubs, sourvernier shops etc  if you are caught being one of the typical idiot types of tourists by a TBIW or reported by a shop owner etc then you'd be banned from all the pleasures and a stamp put in your passport dated for a 5 year review in the hope they will mature, you have to show your passport to enter a coffeeshop/smartshop like proving your age, anyone with a stamp does not get in, a simple email in your conditions of travel stating your obligations as a responsible toruist as soon as your have purchased travel conditions to visit NL, also anyone with a valid stamp in their passport is refused entry to the country until it expires.
