Contamination through adhesive tape?
    #15170272 - 10/03/11 05:06 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Last time I grew shrooms I wrapped the sides of the cake with some adhesive tape to force the damn things to grow upwards

Is there any danger that the adhesive layer contaminated the cake?

you shouldn't touch cakes with anything less than clean or sterile, so using this method to 'force' growing in a direction wasn't that clever. you'd better switch to other teks or could well have kept your substrate in a fitting jar

Do you think I can eat the shrooms from that harvest, or should I throw them away?

If the cake wasn't contaminated(you would likely know) then you should be able to eat them without any issues... but you do need to do some research on better methods
