ok, well if you have done electrical work before this should be easy. what you need to do is splice/solder in a couple resistors into the adjusting switch for the humidity to lower the output. so go buy a couple 5K ohm resistors and then take off the bottom of humidifier. trace the wires that run to the potentiometer(the variable resistor-humididty adjustment) and cut the lines and splice in from one-three of those resistors. if you have the humidifier like it was to start with, then from the strongest setting to the weakest setting, and consider that one step, adding in one more resistor will change it one more step and so on. with three installed the output is barely 'seeable'.
Best thing to add to a fruiting chamber since hepa-filtered positive pressure air exchange. Try it with a dimmer switch....

Yeah, that might be cool and all, but I have wireless Oregon Sci. Thermo/hygros and no probe. Teach me to wire that!  This works well though - I just run it off a dimmer switch, and set the humidity to whatever. Its held at 83-85% for 6 hours now. We'll see how well it works after a 3-day calibration run. Plus, n00bs can even do this.

Yea, I put a volume control in series on the output of an old Ultrasonic and guess what! The untrasonic dies in under a year like every other ultrasonic I have ever owned (6 now) and the warrenty is voided because it was modified.
I use cool mist because they are so low tech the don't break.

well, how did they know that you put on a volume control?? it would make sense to me to either take it off and return as is or if it is still working then pull out the adjuster wire and say the fan works but no humidity made at 11 months (as well take off all modifications.) afoaf returned a vicks US and forgot to take off the resistors underneath-he still got a new one!

People seem to have small chambers here that cool mist is perfect for. I require better equipment, and btw, my ultrasonic has been running for like 3 years now. LEARN TO REPLACE TRANSDUCERS. 'taint hard.
