Can't raise my RH and it's getting out of hand
    #15166652 - 10/02/11 12:02 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

My humidity is stuck between 82-89% and I can't figure out a way to raise it without buying a home humidifier. I've haven't changed any of my methods and I fan/mist once a day, but somethings changed. I think it's the humidity outside thats killing me right now, theres been a drought going on for a few months and I can't even remember the last time I saw rain (at least 4 months ago) and we've been averaging at 106 temp everyday for the last few months. The temperature in my place is always between 75-78. Has anyone else had a problem with the outdoor RH messing with the indoor? I left my hygrometer out one day to test the air and it read 23% RH :frown:
Theres condensation on the walls of the tubs most of the day but in the morning theres not much left. I used to only mist the tops but that changed once this started. I even had to mist one I had colonizing (around 70%) today because it was way dry. Idk what to do anymore...

82-89% is fine. I think people worry way to much about keeping up crazy high RH, its just not needed. Worry about awesome FAE. My best grow was a tub left outside under a tree. Humidity never got over 85% yet they had tons and tons of fresh air. So don't worry so much and just keep up the good FAE.

I don't know it kind of sounds like your talking about casings? If you have an SGFC you shouldn't see condensation on the walls thats actually a sign of poor RH according to RR, and I second it because my SGFC never has condensation and it stays at 99%. Maybe re-wet your perlite?

Sorry should have mentioned that. Yea there monotubs. With four 8 inch holes stuffed with polyfill. No perlite just Half brick cori, coffe grounds, and half qt vermiculite. I've tried covering the top holes int he tubs but after I noticed it didn't make a difference I stopped.

Your probably right. I'm used to seeing my walls look like this but that was condensation built up from the steaming coir mixture I dump in. I'll try just misting the top and leaving the sides alone on one of the tubs and see how that works out.

I figured they weren't SGFC cause you had something colonizing in them... If you covered the holes and still couldn't get over 90, then you might have to re-calibrate your hygrometer... That just doesn't sound right to me.

And like FuckMeRunnin said, 90% isn't bad if you can keep it there... FAE will give you those nice big fruits

BTW, if you're using a mono, condensation is pretty normal. SGFC's don't build up condensation cause of all the holes for FAE. When the water evaporates off, it flows out the holes because of the air flow. With a mono, it evaporates and gets stuck on the sides and roof because the polyfil doesn't allow it out.
