I have a small bit of a problem here. I am new to this have some quick questions.
First, I have a very old print that I just dumped all into water and it's been in there for around 3 1/2 weeks.
Second, I just received a newer spore print that I think is good. along with my empty syringes, we have been trying to get this to work somewhere. I also picked up 2 Prue-sterilized subs. jars. (mainly because I'm just starting and needed a coupla jars anyway.)
So, here's the questions: Should I give the old spore s a try on roll the dice and try shooting all of them up to one of he jars? I would just use all the spores form this, jut to increase chances of getting some that survived. Or should I just give up on the old ones and save both pre-sterilized jars for the ne print?
*edits - sorry, I was way gone when I first tried to post this. This should be more coherent.

Deffinitely use the FSRE print! Those guys rock. I just got a B+ prin from them not long ago. Totally contam free, and killer. I've already noc'd 30 jars with it, and no contams.
I'm not sure what to do with the old print. Can you give me some info on the procedure you used to put it in water?
Next time if you have an old print, just scrape the spores to make one syringe and let them hydrate inside the syringe for 6-12 hours. Noc up a jar and see if the spores are any good... They don't need more than a couple hours to rehydrate, so dumping the print in water for weeks might not have been the best option.

Well, I'm not so sure you're right on that one. I red many threads on here on the subject of spores this old. If they were 2 years in a perfect temp/light/heat/humidity amounts, I would agree with you. But being 10+ years old, I think it was RR that did a bunch of studies on the success rate on older spores increasing greatly by leaving to hydrate for 5, 6, 7 days, etc.
Also, I'm absolutely going to use the newer print. (I want to wait until I have all components and work area better prepared for that and give them the best possible chance) My question was more along the lines of this: I have 2 (pre-sterilized) PF-TEK style substrate jars. So they should be ready for innoc., theoretically. I have a bunch of new, unopened sterile syringes w/ 18 gauge needles.
So, the question is this: if I use the "pre-sterilized" BRF+VERM jar on my OLD spores and they fail...would the experienced cultivators here think, "Nooooo! You wasted an already "sterile" on this curiosity?!! Your first try at making your own sterile substrate jars might be a total bust and contaminated; or that jar may have very well been the only one that would've colonized with the newer, less abused, 'sterile' spores you have in waiting?
See what I'm getting at?
A)This is not big deal, I'm just terrible a waiting for things to start going. So I want to try some things with the components I have while waiting for my syringes made by a much more experienced person at Ralph's or whichever vendor. B)Since I have what's supposed to be a spore ready substrate jar, I thought that would be the best way to take as much of my inexperience out of the equation as possible in case they don't germinate/colonize in the jar. C) I was going to use the other pre-made jar for my first noc w/ what should be the new, more viable spores for the same reason: to try and limit errors coming from me in case something goes wrong. Example: if I noc that jar and do 10 of my own creation and the only one that colonizes is the pre-made one..."I am the weakest link." At least I would know my biggest problem probably lies somewhere in my substrate jar preparation.
Anyway, I'm just watching the grass grow and yelling at it to hurry up. (well not gras in this case, but good analogy, still) I'm slowly getting all the pieces bought and prepared, practicing my techniques(like inoculating substrate jars, even tho it's with 10yr old spores), and spinning my wheels. And, damn it's hard to get the cap back on those needles for me. I need to work on my syringe techniques. I just want to skip right to the last couple of fruiting days and start posting pics of my babies. Kinda like Sparta, though. Any of these that are malformed or to small will be thrown off the cliff....except at the bottom is just this guy on a couch that eats them up. Actually, he kinda reminds me of "The Guy" from "Half Baked".
Sorry, that's it, I'm outta here. "Hey! Mr. The Guy!!!?? You eat my shrooms?!?!" <The Guy waves it off with one hadn an grunts> "You know what? I don't know why, but I believe him, yo. They had numchucks, bolos, they be doin' indian burns..and he paid the price, yo. You know, he got the wrath. He got the wrath of the numchucks, yo."
