very fruity smell very bitter taste,waterlogged,found pretty much on the ground growing off a very rotted log.crazy amounts of rust colored spores everywhere! thanks for any input/help

With the crazy rust spores and growth on a wood, I'd say definitely Gyms of some kind. Sad part is that your specimens are in no shape to be ID'd...or eaten. Your best bet may be to check the log/area again every few days for new growth. There are a few obvious Gym species. The rest you're going to need a scope to ID to species.

yeah gonna have to get a scope soon..i'm so new to this all.i must sound like an ass..got into because a house i take care of has mushrooms everywhere and i heard the hen of the woods were edible so i took one home id'd it and cooked some up..been hooked ever since

Possibly Gymnopilus liquiritiae - I found some last week from a very similar habitat (downed logs a few weeks after they were completely submersed by Hurricane Irene). The log in the pic below has been "transplanted" but the spore drop is amazing. A good description may be found at www.mushroomexpert.com/gymnopilus_liquiritiae.html

yeah maybe but has a very sweet smell and also had somewhat of a ring before i removed them/handled them..how evident is bruising among the different gym species? i'm on the northern east coast so i'm hoping for active

and lol if this log wasn't 2 hours deep into the woods i would be transplanting a log too.right into my back yard thanks for the help too btw

There are active gyms in the Northeast and seemingly plenty if you scan the threads. I believe there are reports of their activity but I am not sure about that.
