After several attempts to use WBS I finally have successful colonization in all my jars! I'm really excited! Thanks for all the help thus far. Any further help is greatly appreciated!

looks good
what tek did you use?
i like fooman's because of short prep time and how it keeps the grains on dryer side (i never strain long enough and i inoc using ~3cc lc)

I pretty much mixed RR's video tek on grains and Fooman's on WBS. I Took all the floaters out and rinsed really well I let them soak for 24 hours rinsed them again then I boiled them like instructed in Fooman's Tek. Which Was let the water come to a rolling boil and then dump the WBS in and turn off the heat. Then PC'D and inoculated. It took about 3 tries to finally get the tek down because of the right moisture content but I believe I finally found what works for me.

I use RR's rye grain prep for WBS. Just dumped as soon as the WBS comes to a boil instead of boiling it for 10 minutes.
Also, no reason to toss the floaters, other than those little sticks.
Toss grains every few minutes for 30-60 minutes. Load jars. Make sure to leave the toggle weight off the PC for a few minutes. That way you'll ensure the air inside the PC is all steam. The PC will reach temp throughout quicker, also.
If you only have two jars, I'd recommend G2Ging them or doing a mini mono.
How long ago did you shake those jars?

Thanks, I haven't been leaving the toggle off the top of the Pressure cooker. Ill make sure to do that.
I have more than two jars, I just only took a picture of those two.
I shook right after inoculation pretty well but right after I did that I read where I wasn't suppose to do that .
I haven't shook any of them yet after inoculation because I'm scared if I shake them again it will do more damage. What do you think i should do. I'm supppose to shake them after 20% colorization right? I know they are well over 20%, but I shook them right after the inoculation =/.

Yea, when doing jars, I start the burner on the stove & get the PC water hot while loading the jars. Then, stick the lid on w/out the weight. Wait until hardcore steam is coming out. The easiest way to test the heat, is by taking a small drop of water & putting it on the center of the lid. Also, the pressure gauge should be going up a bit.
G2G & agar wedge inoculations are the ones you shake after.
LC & MS inoculations you let sit after. The reason being is that you're separating the spores or LC mycelium from germinating or colonizing.
Shake @ 20-30% either way. You're just redistributing the colonized grains.

Sweet, Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I've learned a lot from your post. I plan to eventually use your jar tek. I'm sick of using polyfill and want to move to sythetic filters and silicone but polyfil was the only thing I could afford at the time.
Thanks again!

I always shake when using LC I believe it is to spread the LC over as many grains as possible and so it does not pool in certain spots... just my 2c's...

to each their own. It may be the way you're inoculating.
I have 1 self-healing inoc port. I flame the needles, insert into port wiped w/ iso. then make a circular motion w/ the needle while pushing the plunger. All the LC goes against the glass. Then a small squirt in the center. The ATLs on the right were inoculated in the manner above, notice the distinct inoculation points.

Also, I don't like to beat up my mycelium after inoculation. The less they get banged around, the stronger it grows.

here is an update of my jars. They are all 100% colonized now without any problems. I shook like instructed. I plan on using Damions Coir Tek. What should I do with the small jar? I had left over WBS lol

G2G it or do a GLC from it.
You could easily G2G it to 6 jars.

Make a GLC then do the G2G..
The chance of contam from a GLC is pretty low. But once you crack open the jar to do the G2G the chance of contam is increased.
You will absolutely love the speed at which G2G colonizes. I just finished my current batch of quart jars in 8 days.
The GLC will be great to start your next batch. *Suggestion is to place the GLC in the fridge to keep it longer.. I always make extras and decided to experiment what would happen. I have 1 GLC syringe that is now 3 months old and was stored in my cabinet at normal room temps. Its still active but definitely slower then the ones I keep in the fridge.

Would someone be able to refer me to a good GLC tek please? I have never attempted one before.

I've been having a hard time finding Whatman. I want to buy them but they seem pretty expensive and I can only find ones that come in super bulk.
