Would it be beneficial to lay another airstone above the perlite? I fan about 3-4 times a day but I could bump that up to 7-10 a day. Would drilling another hole or two in the lid be a good idea? The airstones that are submerged are 6" each individually running to a 40 gal. air pump.
You guys are awesome with this feedback!

That's a lot of bubblestones, even with those holes in the top I would think that it would drench the tub.

What's gonna be between the cakes and the water, hydroton and perlite?

Yes a layer of hydroton to cover the air stones, then another 2-3 inches of perlite. This set up is working well in my smaller version I am using.

My first cake I birthed, I had it in a sgfc and it quickly became contaminated so to save time I just built a pmp to get these two cakes up and running. The sgfc dried up way to quickly for my liking but I may give it another go one of these days...

40 gal fish pumps from walmart then I used two 12" air stones and two 14" air stones. Each pump has two nozzles to connect hoses to them so I can run 4 stones all together or even get a couple splitters and run up to 8 air stones. I was feeling a little creative on this one so I hope it all works out well. I still fan my fc throughout the day and have cut back to misting only once, maybe twice a day. Wish me luck!!

Casing? There is no casing, since this is a PF cake. Help me if I've misunderstood your comments, Jaf, but they seem to be irrelavent to this situation.

If you rolled your cakes in dry verm then the dry verm is the casing

Well I'm a total noob, first grow, but I have cottony myc like that thin stuff you have on the bottom of my cakes and the blueish parts look like bruising to me. Which makes sense because those drops of water are big. I would not toss it just yet, wait for a Trusted Cultivator. You might be able to salvage it if you tossed it in the trash, if there's nothing funky growing in there...but wait til you get better advice.

Build a proper shotgun fruiting chamber. That means: 9mm holes every 2 inches on all 6 sides of the plastic tub. That covers your fresh air. Use 2 inches of wet perlite. That covers your humidity for the entire fruiting stage. If your holes are drilled correctly, you shouldn't have to mist or fan. Last, but maybe most importantly: be patient! I've had cakes that only started pinning after 10 to 14 days. This is nature, not a machine. You can't force it to fruit.
As for your conditions right now: your cakes look way to wet in my opinion. Never mist directly on your cakes. The excessive mycelium growth probably indicates that your CO2 levels inside the tank are too high. I found that fanning more often, or using a proper fruiting chamber, solved this problem.
I hope this information is of value to you.
