Chantrelle Identification
    #15129651 - 09/24/11 09:53 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

This is my first post.  I want to eat these bad boys, but not sure if they are Chantrelles.  They smell like apricots.  I sauteed a very small piece, and it tasted delicious.  Their flesh is white.  I hope the photos show up in the post.  I pasted the information from the upload of the photos.

Thanks,

Asher

Nope, not chanterelles but they are edible. They're Honey mushrooms (Armillaria mellea). Some people have an intolerance to them though, especially if undercooked.

They don't really look like chanterelles, at least not the species I find here.

The third photo looks like Honey Mushrooms (Armillaria). Chanterelles don't have rings on their stems.

Happy mushrooming!
