While Mazatapec is what is commonly referred to as a strain (of Ps. Cubensis), I believe Teonanacatl is an ancient Mesoamerican term referring to the mushroom as "flesh of God".

teonan?catl was a word used by the Nahuarl tribal groups to describe several mushrooms which they used ritualistically and ceremoniously at the time of the conquest. Today it has no meaning to any Mazatec or other of the 6-7 groups of indians who use mushrooms as their ancestors did.
It is not a streain of shroom, unless some idiot rip-off smartshop in Amsterdam calls a starain that name/.

My friend tried 5 strains on his first grow... he had the least ammount of luck with the Maz... 1 cake didn't colonize ( the only one out of 12 jars ) and the cake that did colonize didn't fruit... He really wanted to try maz too but it didn't work out that way.. maybe next time he'll have more luck

Please read my Trip Report about my very first shroom experience; which I specifically chose to be Mazatapecs.

Great trip report! Why did you specifically go for mazzies though?

>>Great trip report! Why did you specifically go for mazzies though? Based off the different descriptions on the spore vendor sites, the Mazzies sounded like a mental space I would enjoy immensely. And thankfully, they were. They weren't the most potent strain of cubensis I ever grew...PES Hawaiians turned out to be SUPER potent compared to maz's by dry weight, but the trip off them was not as fun as the Maz's. It's all a matter of personal preference: just like with weed. Not everyone likes certain indicas or sativas...just gotta find the ones that "work" with you the best. Mazzie's were definitely one of my favorite strains that I tried. Love & Light, Boppity PS - Ecuadors were another very "spiritual" trip for me...just not as visual or body buzzing as the Maz's.

Good to hear about Ecuadors. I have both EQ and mazzies coming my way very soon. Haven't done shrooms at all before. Which of the two would you recommend as more of a first-timer?
Peace

LostMetropolis: It's really a matter of taste...and the only way to really find which shrooms you and your body enjoy most is a matter of trial and error.
I really enjoyed the Mazatapecs and I would recommend them over the EQ's as a first-time experience...but that's just me.
The only regret I have is that I never got the chance to try a non-cubensis shroom when I was tripping. I had 10 jars of pan. cyans. growing when I gave up the grow room. I heard Pan. Cyans. were simply amazing.
Love & Light,
Boppity

10 jars ?! My poor...what a loss...sigh... Yes, copes are my favorites, too bad that it is so difficult to fruit...bah, what would be this "hobby" without difficulty ?
