I haven't really taken any pics yet because I can't upload em from my phone, but next time I go out ill take some and maybe someone can upload them for me if I email em, but I don't think those ones I saw earlier were weilii, when I first saw them they were about 4 inches tall with a grey pin shape cap but when I came back a couple hours later they were more like 7-8 inches tall and still had that small cap. They were pretty sick lookin though cuz the stem was about as big around as the cap

Winkleman, I'm sure you know what you're doing, but FYI I've seen a lot of fruits that look very much like those pics you posted. They were all that lookalike psath I believe. Aside from the standard ID criteria, the stipe on those lookalikes snaps very easily, with minimal effort. Weilii, on the other hand have very tough almost rubbery stipes which are much more difficult to break. Just to let you know.

I found some boletes in my grandma's backyard and a medicinal looking mushroom this morning at the edge of the yard... feel like im getting closer
Medicinal Shroom Description: Cap and Stem are one, gills are white spores (like boletes) that bruises brown at the touch, Cap is red and becoming deeper/darker (and harder) reaching the stem... Edge of cap has distinct, but blended layers. Looks familiar to medicinal mushrooms i've seen online just wanted to get yalls opinion on what this maybe

mod edit:
4. Do not ask about current finds in your area. These posts have been flooding the forum for years. If you're curious about if mushrooms are growing in your area, get out there and look! Mushrooms don't read the books. Sometimes they fruit outside of season. There is no set date for any season, only vast generalizations. Your best bet is that if it's close to the season for the mushroom you are looking for and its been raining, you just might find some.
