Most Infamous Right-Winger
    #1511332 - 05/01/03 02:23 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Thought I'd do this to supplement the other poll.

Most Infamous Right-Winger
luvdemshrooms
pinksharkmark
Innvertigo
Evolving
mushmaster
wingnutx
z@z.com
JohnnyRespect
grib
mntlfngrs
Cracka_X
Rail_Gun
Madtowntripper

I probably left out a few people, and maybe I mislabeled a few, but I hope it's complete enough.

Who said this had anything to do with intelligence? If I said DUMBEST right-winger, I would've voted for JohnnyRespect, rather than luvdemshrooms.

I voted for him because of his uncanny ability to destroy most liberal arguments (and some conservative ones as well).

Sorry, but I ain't no right-winger. Neither is Evolving, or wingnutx and probably some others.

I won't speak for the rest, but I am a Laissez-faire Capitalist.

Well nobody said you had to have intelligence to vote for the poll either. You do know what infamous means don't you? It's not a good thing.

The left wing and the right wing are appendages of the same beast, the statist vulture. What's frightening about this particular species is that it feeds on the living and it's appetite is never satisfied.

I was thinking about how those who oppose him may feel about it. That and I have slept like 4 hours in three days. Plus I'm not all that bright anyway.

It depends on who is saying it. If a libbie says it to me i consider that a compliment. I think this thread is being taken too seriously, it's not like any of the "who's more infamous" is equating anyone to being hitler or Stalin...some of you people need to relax.

No. You are wrong. It is so that we can identify and mock those who are different.

Right and left wing describe free verus planned economies, or capitalists versus socialists. Libertarians are generally considered right wing. Only after that were cultural conservatives lumped into the right category, diluting it's meaning.

Ah. So those who hold individual rights to be the highest of all things, and believe in the miminal possible amount of government necessary to get by, are Righties?

Well, by THAT definition, then I am indeed a Rightie. As were virtually all of the major Enlightenment political thinkers and all the Founding Fathers.

I think you're leaving out controls on victimless behavior versus the subsidizing of irresponsible (albeit victimless) behavior. I do not perceive the political spectrum as merely running along lines of left and right, I find this too simple to explain a variety of political beliefs.

That's why you really need an X/Y chart instead of just left/right.

There are plenty of statists on either side.

Quote:

Political tags -- such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth -- are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort. - R. A. Heinlein
