WHy I like James Clavell

This guy writes like I think. His characters have the same thoughts as I would. I know how they will react usually. It flows.

His settings intrigue me. fuedal japan, privateer/trader days, WW2 POW camp, high society booming hong kong '60's. I love them all.

also, he writes with words I wish I could use in conversations.

Whee! Another Clavell fan!

In the last year, I have re-read all his books -- just finishing up "Noble House" as I write this. I liked "Whirlwind" the least, but it is still several cuts above almost everything else out there.

In my opinion, "King Rat" was the best, but they are all just so damned good. The only problem with Clavell is that he wrote so few books.

He is a superb storyteller -- one of the finest of this century. I wish he were still alive and writing.
