Record pot bust in Indiana

Talk about a field of dreams: Someone was secretly growing more than 25,700 marijuana plants in a dense forest in Switzerland County, Ind., until law enforcement agencies discovered them last week.
The crop set an Indiana state record for a single outdoor growing operation, Indiana State Police said.
It took three days for officers from five agencies – Indiana Conservation, Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office, Vevay police, the Indiana State Police and the Indiana National Guard -- to round up the crop and eradicate it.
Helicopters from the Indiana National Guard flew personnel in and out of the dense forest.
And, based on conservative estimates that state police provided, the crop had a street value of more than $38 million.
The big question - who was growing it - remains a mystery. The Indiana State Police said it didn’t know who was cultivating it.
Events leading to the big discovery began two weeks ago, when conservation officers spotted a large plot of marijuana on Green Valley Road off Indiana 56. Those officers eradicated 864 plants and recommended that state police fly over the area in a helicopter to check for other plants. The first flight officers were able to schedule was last Thursday.
“While flying in Indiana National Guard helicopters, state police and National Guard spotters discovered several other plots in the area,” a news release said. That led to another 3,700 plants. Then, “troopers, deputies, and local police worked all day” on Friday and Saturday. “The total eradicated for the three-day operation was 24,877 plants. When added to the 864 plants eradicated two weeks earlier by conservation officers the total number of plants exceeded 25,700, an Indiana record for a single outdoor growing operation,” a news release said.
The plants were growing on 10 different plots, which investigators believe “were all part of the same growing operation,” a news release said.
Officers asked anyone with any information about the cultivator of the crop to call the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles at 812-689-5000 or the Indiana State Police Marijuana Tip Hotline at 888-873-1694 (from within Indiana only). Callers may remain anonymous, police said.

Poor cops were too dumb to find anything else to do besides make money doing something as easy as pulling a plant out of the ground.

I actually heard stories about this a few years back. 
That you could find THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of plants in the Indiana backwoods... 
I've known several who stumbled across the now-forsaken Indiana utopias... 
Too bad.... what a loss...

Wouldn't surprise me at all if it was feral hemp. Hemp was half the reason they tried to eradicate cannabis in the first place. If they ARE bud factories than I feel sorry for the farmer. Hope he has enough profit saved up to pull through after this.

It's sad that these cops have nothing better to do with their time than to destroy thousands of harmless plants and think they are doing any sort of good.
Also, I hope the grower is never caught and he can manage to start another grow to make up for all the lost profit.

It's how these lowlife losers make money. It's the reason a lot of these lowlife pieces of shits even still have jobs. What else would they be doing if they weren't pulling harmless plants out of the ground? They're probably too dumb to be good at anything else.

Cool. Let's just rip out thousands of plants from the earth guys! Bet no parts of this plant get put to ANY good use; rip a photosynthesizing plant (intended function: O2+) out and burn it (performed function: CO2+) IN IT'S ENTIRITY. Stoners would have just smoked the buds. Global warming activists should be all over these fucks (wonder the total CO2 gain due to non-hydro busts like this, ripped out and probably burned). I'm not really about global warming or anything but come on.... That is a lot of life to purposely destroy, with very very poor reasons.
Hope some of the parts get utilized for some reasonable purpose  . Also hope this wasn't a persons grow; however unlikely that may be.

What a waste of tax payer dollars! They treat us like witches in the dark ages or jews in the holocaust. What if we fought back? How long would it last then. High powered rifle bullet in helicopter tail rotor or turbine really ruins their day. Or cables strung high across only obvious landing zone painted green. There's are people facing life at the federal level for growing pot. THe present governor of Indiana was busted for pot at Yale in 69. $ 500 fine. What a hypocrite. All these synthetic cannibinoids are attempts by the drug companies to cash in. That's why they want it illegal while peoples lives are ruined and innocent people are killed.

Looks like Ill have to go on more hikes around here. Never been to Switzerland county, it's small and outta the way.
As for the governor all I can say is Im glad he opted out of the presidential election.
