Can you have bonfires where you are?
    #15110052 - 09/21/11 02:19 AM (9 years, 7 months ago)

This time of year is one of my favorites.
My other favorite times of the year are spring, summer and winter.
But what I like about fall is the cool nights and bonfires/campfires.

Nothing is quite like a nice manageable fire on a cool night with a guitar and some bagpipes or a glockenspiel and a penny whistle or two.
Maybe one of those Balalaika's and a Theramin thrown in for good measure.
Although bagpipes are like tambourines: Not everybody can be trusted with them.

I am fortunate in that (for the most part) I've predominately lived where I could have a small fire if I wanted.
When I traveled to Europe and realized that no one that I came across ever had them I was surprised.
How about you?
Do you ever get to sit around a fire?
Whether it's playing music or drinking beer or cider or what ever, I likes the fall and the fires.

And speaking of fires:
A member of the growery called the fire department to report that his house was on fire.
The dispatcher asked, "How do we get there?"
Smokey thought for a second and then asked, "Dude, don't you guys got them big red trucks any more?"

Me want Bon fire now.  Yes we can do them in our backyards, long as it got some rocks around it to keep the fire in control.

You should make a plan and do it soon.
It's pretty much full of win.

I live out in the country on 40 acres, so I can pretty much do whatever I want. :yesnod:

We regularly have bonfires.

I have a fire every week in my backyard. Love it!

I risk a $500 fine for a bonfire.  Pretty much the entire state of Texas has been under a burn ban all year.

I do love my cold weather bonfires though. :onfire:

Love em. Had one a few nights ago. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year as well. Nice cool weather, all the tourists leave, traffic goes away. Bonfires in the woods, beer and cider. Love it.

Yep.  I live in a suburb, so there are a few rules like the pit can be no larger than 3' in diameter, and it has to be no less than 20' away from the nearest building.  I am a bit of a pyro, and build fires regularly in my back yard!  I am planning to build a sweet paving stone patio in my back yard with a built in fire pit very soon.  My current ground level wooden deck has quite a few rotten boards, and needs to go..

The fire has many things to teach.
But so does the human experience.. which is like fire, sometimes you just need to stoke the coals and sometimes you just need to add a log or reposition the log matrix. But a well built fire will be much more self-sustaining than a poorly built one, and they all need love to grow. And don't fuck around or your might burn yourself. Must always respect the fire. - Shroomism

Can't have BonFires here, I live in the projects. :frown:

I live in a nicer project where I have a small back yard, and then some woods, but I'd risk my lease if I had a bonfire.. can't even have a BBQ grill. lol.

I have a fire pit I made out of paver stones in my back yard, about 125ft behind my house. It's about 7ft in diameter and the whole area is surrounded by sand.

I try to have a fire at least once a week. Sometimes when it's exceptionally dry, I'll wait.

Nothing more relaxing as a nice fire. Not exactly the size of the bonfires we used to do when I was in high school, but it's a good size for the area.

We used to have massive bonfires at my friends house when we were younger. We're talking 40ft tall flames and us all tripping on either acid or mushrooms. Fun times.

There's just something so rewarding about a nice fire outdoors.
Perhaps it taps into some primal thing from days of yesteryear.
Whatever it is, I just love them. Particularly in the fall.
I agree that when I was a younger man, my fires used to be a lot larger and a bit over the top but now I just enjoy a fire of any size.
Even if you have to gather twigs and have it in a charcoal grill, there's something about it that tickles my arse with a feather or something.
Makes me wish that there were some magical shroomery gathering that all the kind folks that wanted to go had money and time to attend....
Let's all meet somewhere where there is beautiful scenery and have a grand ol' time. :voila:
Anywhere but the flatland would be fine.

And while we're on the subject of fires: I have some sad news to report.
There was a fire here in town last week. The redneck public library burned to the ground and all of the books were lost.
It's really sad because a lot of them books hadn't even been colored in yet. And now we'll never get the chance to connect all them dots neither.
