Found in NYC looks strange anyone (pics)?
    #1506936 - 04/30/03 06:43 AM (20 years, 10 months ago)

here i have found a patch of these little guys outside growing the the suburbs of new york. they were by a tree that had some tall grass by it and it had an unusual look to them. they didnt bruise blue, instead only slight slight brown, with a tint of pink? the caps are ash blonde , (closer on the brown side) and brown gills, dark ones.. can anyone identify them, or tell me if they have any psycho active components?
thanks

I agree with Coprinus, everyone in the North/Eastern states have been finding these everywhere lately.

i'm sure they are coprinecae, but with no scent i'm not sure i'd agree with micaceus.

this is just my opinion, but C. micaceus have a distinctive smell that has been present in every stage of maturity i've found them in, even in decaying specimens.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

they are'nt quite "lbms" per se, as they posess qualities that make it somewhat easy to narrow them down to family, and even genus i'd guess, such as a brittle, holow, white, fibrilose stipe, a fragile, extremely thin fleshed, striate pileus and brown-pink bruising reaction [as in the lamelae] to name just a few.
