I had a feeling as soon as he called it was his end, when he told richard to chill, and the look he gave his kid. But deep down I kinda hoped it wouldnt happen, I wanted richard to post up in the back maybe follow him there, but damn. I loved the following seen of him in the trenches. alksjdflkajsdf;lkjasdgk;lj fucking epic show.
looking back, i guess there was a lot of foreshadowing.
but up until the point nuck pulled the trigger i was convinced he'd get out somehow. thought either richard would show up and save the day or nucky would betray his brother and cap him.
heard there were some spoilers leaked thatd he would get popped, but i did not expect it whatsoever at the time..
really loved james. he was my favorite, but shit that was just so damn epic and shocking, im glad it happend. dude was on a suicide mission. he let other people manipulate him in his rise to power and when you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
the great tradgedy of it all is, eli was the one who had more a desire to kill nucky. the whole season, james was reluctant and by the time this episode rolled around he wanted to make things right. yet, somehow eli convinced nucky he was the true enemy and shit happens.
still cool we got to see a couple more james/richard badass moments before he was killed. them hitting up the clan meeting, then forcing neary to type his suicide note was fucking epic.
rip james.

After a lil postulating, that last few minutes were crazy. The way jimmy talks about how hard it is to take his first life, you can see in nuckys eyes that he has never actually pulled the trigger before, jimmy goes on to tell him how he vomited and was sick for a few days after wards. After nucky pulls the trigger, and the end is done, a few minutes later he walks in and appears to be just fine emotionally within his family. Kinda wild, it shows how cold and evil he really is.

I cannot believe they killed him off. Anyone watch the Inside the Episode? "Can't be half a gangster anymore." Guess we should have seen this one coming.

Yeah I had a feeling that Jimmy was going to die soon as I saw him drunk and singing with Richard, my brain just clicked and it all came together in an instant. Really bummed though because he was such a perfect solider.........great hair too what a waste. I had a feeling earlier in the year he would die but I kind of thought he'd make it after his wife got killed. The horse scene with his boy and the WWI shot really satisfyed me as a viewer. Nuck really surprised me on this episode, cant wait for next year.
"I am not seeking forgiveness"
I have a feeling that Eli will get his in the next season.

I was very sad to see Jimmy die but in the end he did try to have Nucky killed first, he let others manipulate him, he went to big too fast and couldn't handle it. The only way he could set things right was by dying, for his so, Nucky, and everyone else.
Great finale. I still wasn't expecting Jimmy to die, even after the first shot. I was like "Gee, he shot him in the face once, maybe he will reconside--..." I missed all the hints leading up to his death... Didn't expect it one bit.
Jimmy was a badass, though, such a badass it took a double tap to the head to kill him. Great show. Getting up there with Breaking Bad, already better than the Sopranos in my opinion.

I have a feeling that miss schroeder is going to be the real enemy next season, rothstein is going to get shot in the back of the head at some point, and we'll see the rise of al capone. atleast thats how I hope it works.

Jimmie died of what most gangsters do in the movies and real life too. He got too big for his britches. Botching those two hits and back pedaling is what fucked him the most. He should have handled the hits himself or let Richard help at least. In season one they were stone cold gangster/soliders.

I felt that way when I was watching halfway through the first season. There's nothing dumb about this show.
I didn't see Jimmy's death coming at all. I also thought that Eli was going to shoot Nucky with that shotgun after Nucky killed Jimmy.
And no one's said anything about Margret giving that land to the fucking church!
Nucky's gotta sack up and kill that triflin' ass ho.

He's such a weird looking motherfucker but I love his one liners. Also, Van Alden is in Cicero, part of Chicago or Al Capone's territory. Now that Van Alden is on the run, will he go to the dark side? Man, his cold calculating demeanor would make him the ultimate gangster. I hope so.

Capone was headquartred in Cicero for a while. Pretty excited to see which way they go with that.

They set Luciano up to be a dipshit. They gave Capone a lot more respect.
Lansky and Luciano should be stepping their game up in the next season.

Jimmy didnt care. He basically wanted to die since he came back from the war. Was never the same. Like he said in his last scene. "I died in the trench, years back." Hence why he didnt bring Richard with, nor, brought a gun with him.

I agree, I just wanted him to hit Manny first regardless or wanting to die the whole series. I didn't want him to try to kill Nucky at all.......... I think it would be historically inaccurate if he died, plus he's the main character(and my favorite). Anyway I see Richard going lone wolf and mixing some shit up in season 3.
