    #15086797 - 09/16/11 12:55 PM (6 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
Okay. This lovely shroom was found growing in our garden box, in a mix of soil/organic compost/ a few wood chips... in Costa Rica, 1500 meters, Southern Pacific zone

Gills:
Creamy-white color, gills... looks much like a button mushroom, but bigger. Turns a darker brown color with age and opens up/fans out

Stem:
Length - about 2 inches,  color - same as cap, texture, solid, thickish,

Cap:
1-2 or 3 inches diameter, creamy-white/tan, texture is much like a button mushroom,

Bruising:
brown

Smell it first to be sure. If it doesn't smell like poster paint then it's edible.

It definitely does not smell like poster paint.
It smells like a typical mushroom.
Are there any poisonous look alikes?
Thanks!!!!

Thank you for all the helpers on this page... i am so very grateful.

Sooo...
This shroom seems like an agricus, does not smell like "poster paint"...
can I assume it is edible?
Would you feed it to your kids?

Any other helpful info is really appreciated.
Forgive my novice questioning...
I just am not really familiar with agaricus and want to be sure.

Not to my kids, but if you are confident in the answers that were supplied I would go for it. But please not the kids.  :lolwut:
