casing after first flush? My first post.
    #1505133 - 04/29/03 04:08 PM (20 years, 9 months ago)

Okay, as this is my first post I will give my background thus far. I have been lurking around this site for about a year. I tried my first grow about six months ago. Started out using 24 pf tek jars. Kept four jars as straight pf tek and used remaining jars to spawn 6 trays of bulk horse poo and straw. Lost three trays due to contamination and had no success at all with pf tek jar. The remaining three trays flushed beautifully for roughly 480 wet. For my second grow currently in progress I purchased a pressure cooker and innoculated four quarts of rye with Tazmanian. 2 quarts were then spawned to horse poo and straw. First flush yielded 449 grams wet. I am preparing for the second flush and am ready to move on to casings. I understand that when casing after colonization that the casings remains in the incubator for further colonization before fruiting. However, I have searched the faq and cannot find whether when casing after a first flush the casings are returned to the icubator for colonization of the casing layer before fruiting, or if when casing after the first flush the casing layer is simply added as a convenient way of rehydrating the tray? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ok. I'm still not clear if the casing should be reincubated or not. I would really like to hear some other opinions from those that case after first flush.

Thanks.

My friend just patches the casing, puts it back into fruiting and mists it lightly 4-6 times daily until new pins arrive.

Patching after picking I understand, but this tray was never cased before the flush. The question is if casing now does the tray need to be put back into the incubator to colonize the newly added casing layer, or should it remain in the fruiting chamber?

Ah, my friend misunderstood the question.

He says to incubate after applying the casing layer, post first flush or not.

Thats what I had thought. I just finished adding a casing layer of 60/40 coir and vermiculite with lime. So I guess it goes back into the incubator for a few days to colonize the layer, and hopefully when I fruit for the second flush I will get the madly even and prolific pinset I have been drooling over.
