I like that video and heard about Wales for years. It really doesn't take long to find decent looking areas.
Took me like 5 minutes to find Sarn Helen, Ystradfellte, Powys SA11 5, Wales
http://tinyurl.com/66afbo3
I've never been there and probably never will, but it looks like the motherland to me..miles and miles and miles and miles of fields
looks like paradise, wish I was there...either way, I'm digging your country, traveling around on the ultra cheap from far far away
edit > here's another one just as an example...There's so many places to explore, it's just mind boggling
http://tinyurl.com/6aparm7
for somebody like me who lives in the inner city and does urban hunting with cyans around SF, you have beautiful country
coastal wales > http://tinyurl.com/68n8lqf
it's like that all over..you can spend years exploring the UK

you know what? fuck it. all you need to know is that barely anything happened. i must've dried them wrong or something. no more fly caps, if i'd known what i would have to go through to get the little fuckers theres no way i'd have done it. even if i did trip. here i am fucking around with bullshit fly agarics when this guy can find libs from the other side of the world. fml!!!!!

I should mention a couple of things about this field..It took me about 2 days to find it, outside of Bristol...the reason why it took so long is because that area surrounding Bristol is much like most of England proper, in that many fields are developed and tilled (grain but no cows) (this is why wales is legendary, because it hasn't been developed like England proper)
the thing I noticed right off the bat, from experience, is in the second photos, wide angle. Notice how there are small bunch grass and it's not quite a fresh cow field, rather, it has been left alone for a couple of years at least. You can still see cow trails in there, those will last 10 years or more before finally melting away if untouched
Psilocybe semilanceata is not just a worldwide temperate climate phenomena, it is quite old, dating back to the 13th century
they do NOT grow out of fresh cow shit..Instead, it is a secondary process where the cow shit decomposes for a good 5 years at least, and then they start coming up (it's complicated because of nutrient changes after settling for years and temps)..This species is still considered something of mystery to science, despite there being hundreds of thousands and millions all over UK at this time ofyear
this is why it is so difficult to grow them in the labs (tho it has been done before)...It is truly a natural phenomenon to science...It's just one of those things that happens once a year, out there in the semi wild
these two photos from Google earth show me three things
it is NOT tilled...not for quite a few years
This field has not been grazed by cows or sheep in at least 6 months, probably longer
This field has had cows or sheep for probably 15 years or more likely, much longer, off and on(for over 50 years), in alternating years....pretty much what any responsible dairy and rural farmer would do (in order not to deplete the soil and grass -totally overgraze it) in any one year)
this field has been left alone for a couple of years...It used to have some cows in it, but not for a few years when this photo was taken, by Google earth autos roaming the UK countryside
and one of the most important >> this field has not been sprayed with chemicals or fertilizers..obviously....
this field wouldn't look like this if it was
just a small natural field that's been left alone for a few years....that's all it takes
THAT...is one clue...hehe
addendum...if this field outside of Bristol continues to be untouched, what will happen is the tiny trails will slowly disappear, and the bunch grass will get bigger
to the point where it will become part of the wetland and sanctuary with the stream in the background ( in the trees in the background, silly..haha

Yes the liberty caps love Wales. Wet, cloudy, cool, mountainous, lots of wild rugged grasslands, moorlands etc grazed by sheep (there are 4x more sheep in Wales than people).

It's definitely those fairly 'wild' grassland areas that are best, untouched by man preferably for decades/centuries and grazed by animals, especially sheep and horses. After a while hunting I 'know' an area will have libs in it, it just has a certain look about it.

This is near me and a similar habitat to where I find lots of my libs. Probably not been disturbed since the Iron Age when they cleared the forests.
Where do you live, do you get libs there? I think they're kinda special, such as how they can't be cultivated, how they love wild, rugged areas etc. People tend to say they give the best trips of all mushrooms too, definitely worth trying.

Thanks mate!
All my finds are coming from really old pastures as well. Ones that have century old ruins close-by. I'm scared to go back to that field where those bulls are Anyone have any advice for dealing with them? I know when you run or back off, that's telling them you're scared and that's why one charged but should I stand my ground and just make myself look bigger and make lots of noise? Or eye them up, stand there until they get bored and realise I'm no threat? Will they recognise me or my clothes?
Cheers!
EDIT:
And I had my first ever level 4/5 trip two nights ago with 45 dry Libs. Brewed them in simmering water for about 1 hour, added lemon juice and put it all into one of those bags that only lets liquid pass and squeezed then drank the water! Was definitely one of the best trips of my life so far. It hit really suddenly, only seeing slight changes then BANG, everything goes haywire. Leaning on the window sill, in and out of consciousness, amazing visuals. I was looking down on the carpet and all the colours and patterns were turning into 3D temples and stairs I remember closing my eyes, everything going dark and this door opens and I'm facing this massive statue like thing, like a chinese warlord but I realise I'm to about to collapse and get up. I decide to head up stairs to my bed and it just gets better. I go for a toilet and pretty much collapse onto my legs, wake up and the shower tiles and windows are like opening up, like a glass door opening that's inviting me in. I stagger into my room (just moved in, it was pretty much empty except a bed) and I see and feel surrounded by some force, like seeing shadows standing in the corners and edges of the room and seeing figures at my shoulders, pushing towards the bed, hands on shoulder, talking to me, hearing noises. This crazy intense energy was rushing through my body and I felt highly erotic, felt so damn good. I jump onto my bed and feel myself leaving my body and feeling I'm dying and my asthma gets really bad (possibly a coincidence, or part of the fake/ego death?) but stupidly I resist it and come back. I'm leaving there and the things are still leaning over me and I feel as though I'm somewhere else, in a wide valley with large barren mountains. It eventually calms down from there but I still feel so damn warm, fuzzy and good.
I had 46 Libs last night but it wasn't near as good, maybe tolerance? It was 38 dry Libs and 7 fresh. Good visuals, but it took a turn for the worse and found myself fighting the bad thoughts and overcome it, turned into a good trip. I remember on my bed and the things in my room turned into people crouching around my room and people crawling upto me and some sitting in a bundle crying.

I saw a park ranger get chased once, he passed one with it's calf and when he his back was turned it made a dash for him, jumping around and waving his arms worked for him lol. I draw a imaginary circle around them and try to read body language, keep out of their personal space.

First time poster. Myself and some friends went prospecting yesterday, mainly searching for signs of Liberty Caps, no yield to speak of though we did find some potentially good spots that we'll be sure to check out in a week or so. I'm here because i would just like to know definitively what these two specimens are. I believe the smaller of the two (right) may in fact be a very young liberty cap, as for the larger of the two i'm considerably more skeptical

(this may not have worked, if so then it'll have been a terrible first experience and you'll never see me again)

daz01 - sounds fun, the last time I tried them I saw amazing brightly coloured Incan/South American patterns everywhere. I haven't tried any of this years libs yet, may have some tonight, see how potent they are. Need to try some fresh ones too - only ever had them dried.
Does one notice any differences between fresh and dry?

i found fresh ones (only done fresh once) to be a lot more uplifting and visual.. but maybe thats because it was my first trip. the excitement may have been the reason for that.. the dry ones i did later (same batch, same field) made me want to curl up and sleep
ive only tripped a handfull of times on libs but i found every trip ive had since the first has been darker with more points of panic, which do die off once i tell myself its just the shrooms talkin! still not too pleasant while it lasts though..
i ate a fresh mexicana truffle in A'dam last week and it took me back to the happy place i had been on my first trip.. so from my experience i much prefer fresh but thats not to say that scientifically theres any difference. i could well have not been in the right frame of mind. as im sure you know libs are one of the most stable shrooms to dry due to there lack of psilocin so theoretically there should be very little difference between fresh and dry, but my experience tells me otherwise
secondhalf, the one on the right could be a lib but you need to get some better pics for a proper i.d.
