HTML design software

Does anyone know of some simple free html design software for windows? I have access to MS expression studio and dreamweaver but I don't want anything that complex.
I prefer coding by hand but would like something to assist me. It is getting a bit tedious to edit then refresh the browser every change I make.

Microsoft FrontPage Express 2.0 It's crappy by today's standards, but simple and free.

I use Visual Studio Developer or something like that..I forget the name. It's good for ASP.NET as well.

how well are the free linux web site editors? you can download sun's virtual box free, and install linux as a guest operating system. if those linux html and php editors are worth a damn you could be saving a ton of money. how much ram do you have? what type of processor? most pc's these days can run a virtual machine just fine. btw take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm not lying to you, but from here I know nothing of web design or much about hypervisors what so ever.
I only know open source has some cool application development stuff, and if you can't download the open source version to windows, then you can download it to linux. of course maybe you can download it to windows. look up open source html editor and find out what those programs can run on, best of luck

Every couple of years I evaluate the latest web development software, and I always end up sticking with UltraEdit. It's not free though, and it doesn't sound like it meets your requirements, but I wanted to give it a shout-out since I really do think it's the best.
You may want to check out Nvu or HTML Kit. Or if you want a full IDE take a look at Aptana Studio.

I found some freeware called coffecup. It has a $59 upgrade to get WSIWYG. It seems pretty good. It may be worth the money to have the drag and drop.
I will look at UltraEdit. I don't mind spending the money if it is worth it.
I have Visual Studio 2010 but it doesn't render correctly in the design view. I like it because it has a javascript debugger and VS.PHP php debugger.

I'm just going to stick with edit.com.
I tried UltraEdit, it is pretty good. I may have to spend the money to get it.

Notepad++ is good for coding. As far as actual design space like Dreamweaver, I don't know.
