ID request, are these edible?
    #15073003 - 09/13/11 01:13 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat:
Growing around the base (from the soil) of dead trees, mostly dead peach trees in a shaded or semi-shaded part of a garden in Missouri near the Mississippi.

Gills:

Brown, attatched gills.

Stem:
Length - 2 to 4 inches (4-8cm), diameter - 1/4 (0.5cm) inch, color brown, texture - firm, snaps when bent, solid, thin.

Cap:
Diameter - about 3 inches (4-7cm) when mature, color brown, texture - firm, spherical, convex.

Spore print color:
Very white.

Bruising:
No bruising noticed, but possibly a slight brown bruising.

Other information:
Smells like deep fried button mushrooms, they smell very rich and appetizing.

There are 3 locations in the pics, all within 3 yards/meters of each other, around the base of a dead maple tree and the base of 2 dead peach trees. No noticeable bug bites, but the mature ones quickly become infested by numerous maggots with spikes, causing them to turn to mush.

Edible

Perhaps, some of the older ones have a concave cap.
