dry cakes?

I have a cake in a terarium with perlite using the PF Tek. It was completely colonized and sitting atop the perlite. After two weeks i had no pins, so i tried the dunk tek for 6 hrs. hoping to rehydrate them because they looked less " fuzzy" and had shrunk a bit. It's been another week and a half and still no pins. I also had a heating pad inside to keep the temp. up a bit. I was also misting the walls and the cake iself lightly 2x a day. The cake feels hard to the touch, is it dead? Do i need higher humidity?

well dunk is longer than 6hrs, and temps do not need to really be up?? i dunno y ur heating them, a drop in temp is usually wat u do to initiate pinning, dont mist on the cakes eiter, heard that was bad....and id say wait some more?!

i was using a heating pad with three settings and i dropped it to the lowest setting after i birthed cuz i thought it would help stimulate the perlites humidity cuz it didnt seem to be humid enough. it needs 95% humidity right? should i only use the pad during colonization only? my temp. stays around mid 70's without it.

oh yeah...... should i mist the walls in addition to the perlite or will the perlite suffice?
