 Contams??? Help someone!!!

I know this pitbull down the street who is trying to cultivate (MMGG cakes). About a week after inoculation he saw growth. He tells me that on some of his cakes he has an orange tint to the rice around the growing mycellium, but if he looks at the same cake again the next day the orange is gone and is replaced by healthy mycellium (or is pushed further back from the innoculation site). Is this a contam, or... well, what the hell is it? This is the pitbull's first time cultivating and he tells me he doesn't exactly know what to look for. I don't think he is to keen on poisoning himself and/or his pitbull friends.

Will the contaminant be obvious or will it be covered/consumed by the good mycellium once the cake is birthed? Some of the cakes grew so fast it is possible that contams were not caught. On some cakes the maya or whatever it is called is fairly obvious. I guess my question now is will the good mycellium grow over the contam and cover it from view, in which case you won't be able to tell if a fast colonizing cake is contaminated without breaking it into many pieces

How r the jars, i mean i read sumwhere wayback that if its real moist the mycelium will gain a yellow/orangish hue, ive experienced this myself but it was usually opposite, toward the center w/ white edges(as that is where condensation forms), but its just a theory, also most contams as well as being a diff color r a diff texture, look real close if it looks like discolored mycelium opposed to sum foreign substance an it all colonizes completely white , i would birth them n see what happens, although if done pitbull should test them on self first to maintain clear conscience. being careful in what ever u do

Thanks for the input, I'm gonna let the jars go for a bit and then birth them. The jars do look a little moist inside but being a first timer I really don't know the difference between a dry or a moist jar. I plan on using one of the cakes to try my hand at casing so I'll pick one of the suspected cakes and break it open when I birth it.
