The first 2 pics could be gyms but they look a bit off so I would guess Cortinarius.And the rest dont look like gyms to me either.I think they might be Armillaria.

The first two pics look like corts of some kind, while i agree with Blue that the latter look like Armillaria

ok do they even grow in new york it seems like prime time to find them right now and i have nothing but hardwoods  and tons of dead stumps mushrooms grow all over but i still havnt been able to find ANY!!

I found my first Gym a couple weeks ago, but since then I have had no luck. I actually found it growing from the base of a live oak tree
I think the temps are too warm here right now for Gymnopilus.

What are the specific temps that gyms usually fruit in?

yea in live in the binghamton area and have had no luck at all with finding them. look almost everyday

They are there and maybe you will find some and then again maybe not. I've come across them about three or four times in several hundred "walks". I wasn't specifically looking for them but they do tend to stand out, especially if they're on top of a log.
