Cleverbot apparently passed the Turing Test
    #15067023 - 09/12/11 10:12 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn20865-software-tricks-people-into-thinking-it-is-human.html?DCMP=OTC-rss&nsref=online-news

I thought this was pretty interesting. They claim that Cleverbot passed the Turing test. It was voted to be human 59.3% of the time.

Honestly though, with the dialog that they gave as an example on the website, I'd say it failed it.

Quote:

New Scientist: Do you think you have passed the Turing test?

Cleverbot: What is the Turing test?

New Scientist: It's a test to determine if a machine is intelligent.

Cleverbot: Have you taken the test?

New Scientist: No, but you have – do you think you passed?

Cleverbot: I am, but I'm too lazy to do anything with it.

I don't know what kind of answer "I am, but I'm too lazy to do anything with it." is to a question about it passing an intelligence test. :undecided:

Have you seen the one where the two cleverbots talk to each other? :bender:

In regards to the article at hand, humans scored just 63% compared to the cleverbot's 59% which isn't much higher, but I wonder what the human responses were..

Hahahah, I lol'd.

That was pretty awesome.

You can talk to cleverbot by going the website.

Honestly, I'd say it doesn't pass... but then again that might just be because I know it's a robot.

60% is not passing, unless you have really low standards.

It's not even grammatically correct in the context of the question...

Humans on average scored a 65.3%. That's pretty close to being a human if you follow that.
