psychedelic obsessions
    #1505722 - 04/29/03 08:59 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

Has anyone else been obsessed with tripping? I haven't tripped in over a year but it's all I ever think about. I might be a drug addict or something.

I don't know what you mean by "obsessed" but I bet most people on this board think about tripping a lot. Or if not tripping directly then thoughts inspired by tripping, tripper thinkers, tripper books, tripper stuff. It's on my mind a fair bit, but not as much as it once was. I reccomend a regiment of weekly shroom trips till you wanna take it a little easier.

It happens. Happened to me after tripping my 1st time. It was too great an experiance, wears off, promiss  After I tripped I thought about it every day and would get the urge to trip, like cravings. Took awhile before I got over it but now I'm good, tripping is cool but not obsessive now. This went on for atleast 6 months after my 1st trip but I've tripped since then and its no biggy.

I don't think you're addicted, you're just thinking about something you really enjoy doing. I think about tripping a lot, just as I think about the other things in life I enjoy... sex, hockey, music, fishing, etc.

hmm.. i wouldnt say obsession, but heavily thinking about, i have experianced before. Not once have i ever had a craving for shrooms, but yeah i did think about them quite a lot before.

The whole tripping experiance is such a mindblowing thing that you just want to think about it and talk about it.

Now that i havnet tripped in 6 months i dont really think about it, or feel any effects from the trip anymore. I know the next time i'll be tripping is in the summer but i dont really think about it that much anymore. One things for sure though, the whole shroom experiance does stay with you, cuz its so amazing.

I've been pretty obsessive about it. Having my first grow, it's taking forever! But mostly because I don't have anything else to fill my time while i'm waiting , and because ive never done shrooms before.
Patience is a virtue! (but not a good one)

To be obsessed by tripping.  Well, if you define tripping as taking a drug and seeing colors and feeling certain feelings and can't wait til you're back in that drugged-up state...then ya, perhaps you have a dependency issue.

If you define tripping as simply concentrating on your own perceptions and contemplating any given object of concentration in a single-point state of mind...then you are simply learning what it is to meditate.  But be aware, samadhi states are just as addictive as drugs.

We can't answer your question; only you can tell if you're addicted to anything.  Tripping is inherently empty; what value or importance you give to it will affect your desire and attachment to it as something "necessary" or "real."

If you wake up and all you can do is think about your next trip and can't live life without it...chances are you're dependent on it.  If you're simply in awe of your own mind and how you relate to your sensory perceptions...welcome to the world of the meditators.

Love & Light,

Boppity
