However you still need to keep an eye on it, and some supplementary sprays may be required. If your container if HUGE, then you may need to spray and fan a little.

Ultrasonic humidifiers are silent and work better if ya got the dough.

I do not agree.
If the fruiting chamber is tweaked, a cool mist can be left on 24/7 providing constant air exchange. If this were done with a ultrasonic, the results would be much less than desirable!

What are the differences between ultra-sonic and cool -mist? I thought they were the same thing. Both use nebulizers to create cold steam right?

not at all-only the ultra sonic is the nebulizer, and the cool mist that i had just had a fan blowing out air right above a wick that sucks up water and supposedly returns it into the air. ultra sonic is definetely the way to go!! if your terrarium is huge (like 4' by 8') then it works perfect, and if its small, then the humid air is just too much for you m ost likely, so what you can do is put in added resistance into the adjusting switch for the strength of humidity. if you want instructions then pm-its pretty easy even if you dont know what you are doing. I use an ultrasonic humidifier. I put a 2 litre Coke bottle between the humidifier and my growing chambers. This helps to dry the air a little so you dont form big water drops that might rain down or plug up your lines. This one humidifier is enough to take care of multiple chambers.(not too big-73 Qt)

i had four 2L bottles and that was still too much humidity (but close) so i re wired the damn thing so i didnt have to worry about it. Jake H

Really? 4 2L and it was still too humid? Maybe my sensors are way off, because I have RH readings in the mid to upper 90's all the time. I'm using a 3 channel Oregon Scientific Thermo-Hygrometer WeatherStation. Tell me Jake, can I trust it's accuracy?

A cool mist will work fine... 2L bottles to dry the air? Glad I never bought an ultrasonic humidifier, my cool mist is good enough, almost too much at times.
If your terrarium is too big for it to handle or you have multiple grow chambers, you can rig the cool mist up to recycle the air. A buddy of mine does this and when its on he actually has fog inside the tanks.
Works like a charm, IMO its the way to go.

lol , ya i think so newatthis. the terrarium was relatively small, (w/a calibrated digital hygrometer) and by 'too much' i mean that i couldnt leave it on 24/7 like you could a cool mist. and the advantage of the ultrasonic is the possibilities for larger terrariums that a cool mist could not keep up. there once was a 4' by 8' by 3' terrarium sealed (holes on bottom) with the cool mist inside and humidity never surpassed 80%. Good point about re-wiring. It's a lot prettier to look at that setup rather than the MMGG-style coke bottles all over the place, plus the effort of keeping low-points out of that much tubing (even if you stand the bottle upright). And you can make the mod for about $7 including the price of a soldering iron. You can then replace the resistor attached to the potentiometer (the slide-bar for output) IN SERIES. Or if you're really creative, you can replace the potentiometer to get a wider range. This is only when you don't always have all your growing chambers running. Anyhow, I'd recommend doubling the resistance coming off the potentiometer.

Cant you just put it on a timer for 10 mins every 2 hours? Seems a lot simpler.

You can, and the sliding humidity can keep pins developing constantly.
There are always multiple ways to do things. I just like to play with soldering irons and such, and in fact my modified humidifier is on a timer.
