Using rye in the PF tek? I've never heard of that.

Gypsum is not completely necessary when working with grains, I've never used it. It is used so the grains can be shaken more easily. If you do want to use it, you can go to a craft store, or walmart (not sure if walmart has infected south america yet). It is known as Plaster of Paris, used in ceramics.

1. It is not required, but definately helps in keeping the grain loose so you can shake easier. I believe the mycelium also benefits from the calcium in it.

2. el yeso

Wait PF tek? Rye grains in PF tek? I'm not so sure about that.

Sulfur as well.

Overdo-ing gypsum is not a good thing, though. Stick with the recommendation.

Jim has also found gypsum (as well as cottonseed meal and poultry manure) in a good, legitimate nursery.

You sterilizing that rye first? Or, steaming?

Never heard of rye in a PF tek.........

If sterilized first, it seems it would help. But from what I hear oat flakes work too.

6T..............
