i got to watch some rail workers fuse tracks next to a refinery one day. they use thermite to do the job. was really funny how after they lit it, they wouldn't get within 20 foot of it even a half hour after it burned.

I saw one of those in operation in real life once. It blew my mind so much that one of the workers must have noticed the expression on my face and he came over to explain the whole process to me.

Lol pussies. Friends and I set about inventing ways of lighting rain soaked logs. I put some thermite wrapped in leaves with magnesium fuses on it. Even a little handful of the stuff burns so hot that I couldn't get within ten foot of it. And that molten slag was giving off a significant amount of heat after it burnt out.
You know what, I look at those machines, and think to myself the engineers that did it played with lots of lego.
