I don't see any, but they would actually be on the part of the board toward the front of the case where all the wires/cables are in your picture. Everything in the pic is IDE/Floppy isn't it?
What CPU do you have and what year did you get your PC?
That's what sata ports look like, but note some older boards only had the middle part of the port which is a plastic L-shape. If you go into your BIOS you should be able to determine whether or not you have a sata controller.

is that a p2? i don't see sata, but from what i do see, u don't have sata. i do however see pci slots that u can buy cheap sata adapters for and they even make ide to sata adapters.

I have no idea how you can look at that picture and tell that there is an ide controller. that picture is so crappy, i can barely tell if those are ram slots or pci slots next to the cpu and heatsink. barely. I mean I know my board directions, so what else could it be in that proportionate direction. still though, it's a nice close up picture, but op seems to leave out a view of the rest of the board. however, that picture seems to include pci slots with two cards in each slot. not knowing what those cards are, is ok, but hopefully op doesn't assume that those pci slots are sata controller slots. yes op should tell use what model his motherboard is, and then he should also tell us if he checks in the bios to see what controllers he has. f2 or f12 or delete or whatever is the default key to access those settings.

That's a socket 1/early Pentium 2 mainboard. SATA wasn't around back then.

yeah definitely no sata back then. as far as i know, the PII was the only mass produced CPU that was mounted vertically instead of flat on the board.

That is correct. The PII and its Celeron siblings. And AMD's Slot A, which was simply the 'me-too' version of Intel's Slot 1.

Your knowledge of computers is such that you should not be advising people of anything computer related. I am basing that statement on this post and other computer related posts I have seen from you. Giving someone bad advice is far worse than giving them no advice at all.
First, only a single card can be inserted in a PCI slot, not "two cards in each slot".
Second, there is no "sata controller slots". There are PCI slots that you can insert a SATA Controller card into.
Third, it is hysterically easy to see that the drives controllers in that pic are IDE controllers based on the ribbon cables and their connectors.

two cards in ONE slot?? is THAT WHAT I SAID????? I said he has two pci cards, one in a slot each. there is dual lane pcie on the board. you don't even read things just skip over things then quote them then make yourself look retarded. do you think that picture of that board was clear? go give the op advice without any good statistics of what his board even is. it's an older board and doesn't have sata controllers. well let's hope your right, we haven't even seen the other side of the bus.
there is OBVIOUSLY no sata controller slots. the op made a post asking if his board had sata controlers, then showed a picture of two cards, one each in a pcie slot. I was saying it would be a mistake for the op to clearly think that those were sata connectors, maybe you should read things and not just make un useful quotes about things, when you don't even read what I say. who is the troll here? I get nothing but TROLLED on this forum.
maybe people blasted on shrooms who can't read and quote correctly shouldn't tell someone how to assemble their computer, or retrieve their data. why would I know how to set up a vlan? I've never virtualized anything in my life.

it never happens here. shroomery = educated people
xbox 360 advice = reflow the board, be careful not to overheat the gpu though. but if you don't understand the explanation I'll be very angry, it's not an extremely visual concept, it's one easy to understand in theory
never get into computers and expect people to forgive typos, which are easier to forgive then straight up giving theoretical on how to do something extremely complex that will fry your board, or dump all your data, or melt your hard ware

op, sorry about the thread going so far off. here are some examples of how to use sata on on older pc's. one adapter here is a pci card, that would be the best option, the next best option is the ide to sata adapter, it might however not perform as fast as a pci card.

I am still learning but I give advice all the time. And fix stuff. I like making things.
Next year, I'm going to try one of these new fangled UEFI boards, one with some stripped down linux on it would be nice, but either way that and fusion APU's I'm both keeping an eye on.
Hey OP, dunno what your plan is. Use a SATA drive in the computer until you can afford a better system? what size hard drive did you get, and did you encounter that old 130gb drive limit?

I've got a new(ish) Thinkpad x120e. It has both UEFI and the Fusion E-350. Support was rough when it first came out but its getting better. A year in the open source world is massively different.. you should be find.

That is an extremely old issue. Although considering the OP's machine is a P2 its entirely possible.. It just requires a flash of the BIOS to fix it.

Ah, right. That'd be why I never experienced it. I tend to get new hard drives when I upgrade my motherboard. I'll be doing it this time as I suffered a hard drive crash and one, or both of them are much slower now.
