it never happens here. shroomery = educated people
xbox 360 advice = reflow the board, be careful not to overheat the gpu though. but if you don't understand the explanation I'll be very angry, it's not an extremely visual concept, it's one easy to understand in theory
never get into computers and expect people to forgive typos, which are easier to forgive then straight up giving theoretical on how to do something extremely complex that will fry your board, or dump all your data, or melt your hard ware

Please do not call other posters dumb, or "that dumb".

op, sorry about the thread going so far off. here are some examples of how to use sata on on older pc's. one adapter here is a pci card, that would be the best option, the next best option is the ide to sata adapter, it might however not perform as fast as a pci card.

I can flash/jtag/repair 360's, pm for details.

I am still learning but I give advice all the time. And fix stuff. I like making things.
Next year, I'm going to try one of these new fangled UEFI boards, one with some stripped down linux on it would be nice, but either way that and fusion APU's I'm both keeping an eye on.
Hey OP, dunno what your plan is. Use a SATA drive in the computer until you can afford a better system? what size hard drive did you get, and did you encounter that old 130gb drive limit?

I've got a new(ish) Thinkpad x120e. It has both UEFI and the Fusion E-350. Support was rough when it first came out but its getting better. A year in the open source world is massively different.. you should be find.

That is an extremely old issue. Although considering the OP's machine is a P2 its entirely possible.. It just requires a flash of the BIOS to fix it.

Ah, right. That'd be why I never experienced it. I tend to get new hard drives when I upgrade my motherboard. I'll be doing it this time as I suffered a hard drive crash and one, or both of them are much slower now.
