Sure we can have utopia and a "cashless society". Just give me $360 in advance for a ticket and I guarantee you a porty potty and a tent with some caring people and water. Just in case. Hell I will even make it cold water how's that? OK Ice water but that's it. Now go party!
When will the BS end? Why can't we just say OK we paid for fun and it was fun. Why do we have to pretend it was some giving caring event. It was a party.
I just don't get it. It is a mystery.
Church is no better. Yea we gave to the church and they forgave us our sins? No, we paid for that priest. And look what he did to our choir boys. Got them all sad and walking funny. I just don't get it.
And don't get me started on the monks. At least some of them had the good sense to keep quiet about the whole thing.
I just don't get it.

What's not to understand, these things are a social function allowing people to come together in a way that their ego might normally make difficult and unlikely.
Don't hate, participate.

Right, how could you get it, you've never been there to experience it.
btw I believe early ticket sales were $250
1 million for portapotties, 1 million for basic permit. More millions for hiring police force and fire dept. and the list goes on a long way from there. Check for yourself.

Funny many on here seem to "get it" while never experiencing something. Like alien invasion for example.
OK $250, $350, let's just please not pretend it's cashless and people magically abandon their wanton greed just because they pay at the door.

Maybe they don't "get it" but just need to say it.
And there is no door.

Yes I love the way my masseuse makes me feel too. $50 an hour. No happy endings but nice anyway.

Then I suggest you stay there year round. Burning Man only lasts a week.

I can't afford to stay with my masseuse at $50 an hour it would be prohibitively costly.

Would it be as pleasurable if you didn't get it in small doses?

Likely not. I do realize it's a fantasy island of sorts.

how can there be no door? if there is no door, not even a figurative one, then what would be the point of buying a ticket?
surely someone checks your tickets, and the parameter of their checking constitutes as a door.

btw i woul dhave thought that the whole point of paying huge sums for a permit is to have police and fire department there.
overall the price aint bad for a week long festival. but the message is obviously getting a bit lost.
todays paper (mind that this is australia) had a big article on a guy who was renting out luxury campervans to the 'upper class' members of burning man.
This seems like the antithesis of burning man. 'yeah fuck the community, im just going to have my own caravan with all the luxuries that i want, and its all going to be mine, and i paid for it here at burning man! woot! i dont have to worry about random people disturbing my peace when i get bored of walking around staring at hippies

I wish I had a large camper when there. The dust storms and desert conditions make it feel like too much at times. Who cares if there are some few who hide out in them. Are you expecting 50 thousand fully enlightened interegrated humans?
You are right tickets are a good deal. You get a fairly large booklet when you enter that has seven days and hundreds of completely free workshops from how to make a hat or a mask to tantric sex, yoga, or how to know your psychedelics and a zillion more.
