Me and my friend are going to amsterdam soon and I was wondering if anyone in here has ever been there. If so, what would be some good sights to see? And what is the average price for mushrooms? And does anyone know the average price for peyote? I know the peyote is very expensive, but I am ready to pay alot.

Peyote is a big rip off inAmsterdam at $15.00 a dried gram and 7 grams is the dose meaning you pay almost over $100.00 for a dose.
There are four hits in a fdried opunce. (Clinical dosages that is.
San Pedro is cheaper and you can legally buy it here in America. Most places which do have cactus for sale charge about 25 to 30 dollars a cactus which is enoght for a ceremonial dosage equal to four to six large fresh buttons of peyote or a quarter dried opunce of buttons.
Amsterdam is chap on the shrooms, !2-15 us dollars a dose, but the peyote is a European rip-off moeny wise.

Shrooms are sold in fresh packages of 30 grams, not 2, 5-3 g as you suggested. HEre is a package of said shrooms. They are not allow to sell dried shrooms any more.
I do know that the head shops, mostly owned by Algerians and other middle eastern peoples such as arabs, hindis and pakastanis might sell some dried shrooms under the counter but the Smart shops all only sell fresh mushrooms. That is the law and many will not break it for fear of losing the whole right in the country to sell the fresh mushrooms.
mj. the tray was 25 guilders ($12.50 U.s.
Now they are !5 Euro Dollars. They contain thirty (30) fresh grams or approx. one ounce fresh.
They also have Copelandia tropicalis (or C. cyanescens) 7 to 10 fresh mushrooms and !5 gram trays of fresh Sclerotia or Philosophers Stones of P. tampanensis.
Alkl the same price. This particular one came from the Kokpeli Smart Shop owned by Veronique and is part of hans van den Hruk's Conscious Dreams Collective which has seven shops in Amsterdam and a few elsewhere in Holland.

i was in amsterdam last summer and most of the smart shops sold dried shrooms. i wish i could remember some of the names of the best smart shops - there was one in particular that sold dozens of species and strains ranging from azures to pans to mexicans to ecuadors, all dried, and had shrooms growing right there in the store. walking away from centraal station, after crossing the last tracks but before you reach the damrak you turn right and go a couple blocks its in that area. what mj said about the peyote is really true, they sold really young cacti for about 25 euros that you would have to eat four of to feel anything. as far as coffeehouses you definately need to get to the dampkring. buy the smoker's guide to amsterdam in one of the smart shops you'll be glad you did, it shows you where everything is. there's also a coffeehouse right off the damrak, if you're facing away from centraal you go down a street on your right, turning off damrak maybe a hundred or so feet before you would reach the hotel manofa. there are a bunch of confectionaries on the street , and the coffeehouse is on the left. they have a volcano vaporizer in there and a really nice microscope that you can look at your bud under. i'm trying to remember what that place is called - i think it might have been the 420 bar. anyway you're going to have a great time, there's so much to do all day and all night (although there aren't any 24 hour convenience stores so if you get really hungry at 5am you may be out of luck). make sure to ride the trollies all around the city, and visit the different parks. and of course you'll visit the red light district, it's insane! go catch a show at Theatre Casa Rosio have fun!

no as long as you aren't freaking out and bothering people nobody is going to give you a hard time for tripping. eat shrooms on a nice day and ride the trains all around the city and explore you'll have a blast oh i forgot to mention - Amsterdam is an insane, bustling city. If you're spending a reasonable amount of time there you should make sure you take a train to one of the more relaxed towns like Haarlem. It's only a 25 minute train and it gives you a better idea of what the rest of holland is like The people in Haarlem were awesome!

ah yes, as you walk the streets dozens of people passing you throughout the day will say the words "Ecstacy, Cocaine" into your ear. Everybody and his brother is pushing ecstacy and coke on the streets, but i'd very much suggest you to avoid these people. just keep walking, dont look at them dont talk to them.

AS I said above it is now illegal to sell any dried mushrooms in Amsterdam. Doing so can jeopardizze the whole legality of the scene.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
COURT SAYS MAGIC MUSHROOMS MUST BE SOLD FRESH
Friday October 8 7:05 AM ET
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The Netherlands' liberal drug policy suffered a minor knock on Thursday when a regional court ruled that drying hallucinoge- nic magic mushrooms was illegal.
But in the first case to target magic mushrooms, judges did not challenge the sale or cultivation of fresh mushrooms by more than 200 so-called "smart shops" across the country.
The court in the southern Dutch city of Den Bosch sentenced four men and one woman to community service for processing and trading dried magic mushrooms -- less than the one-and-a-half to three-year sentences the prosecutor had sought.
In handing out the lenient sentences, the court cited expert research that showed the mushrooms posed no significant threat to public health. It also said magic mushrooms were not addictive and cause only mild hallucinogenic effects.
Under Dutch law, processing native plants into drugs is illegal, but selling or possessing the plant is not.
Three men were found guilty of producing and trading dried mushrooms, while another man and his daughter were convicted of growing the mushrooms with intent to process.
The four men must each perform 240 hours of community service, and the woman 120 hours.
The smart shop in Den Bosch which sold the dried mushrooms must pay a fine of 10,000 guilders, the court ruled.
At least one of the defendants, Hans van den Hurk, owner of the smart shop chain Conscious Dreams, said he planned to appeal the verdict.
Smart shops sell an assortment of vitamin or herbal products, from energy drinks such as Red Bull and aphrodisiacs to herbal "ecstasy," a legal substitute designed to mimic the banned drug MDMA.
The Netherlands has long drawn criticism from other nations for its lenient drug policy, which tolerates the sale of cannabis in hundreds of coffee shops. _________________________________________________________
This is from October 0f 2002. And since then Hans lost his appeal to sell dried shrooms.

i've been in Amsterdam 2 times (1st last summer and the 2nd 3 months ago) and i wanna go again soon! -Chills & Thrills is a great smartshop 5 minutes from the central stacion and it has offers like you buy 4 doses shrooms and you take 1 extra free. Go check it! -A GREAT place to stay is the city hostel Vondelpark. It's next to the most beautiful park i have ever seen (the vondelpark) and it's cheap and very clean and friendly! Very good people in there! -Don't leave from there if you haven't tried copelandia mushrooms!!!! -If you want dried stuff to bring back to your country, don't worry, dried=illegal but still evey smartshop sells dried! -Visit the red lights district at night!(there you will find the sex museum and the herb museum) -Trip with copelandia mushrooms in the vondelpark(the park not the hotel:-p)!!! Believe it will be a trip that you will never forget!
Have fun and if you find there my brain please bring it back for me!!!

The average cheap hotle in the red light district are $39.00 a night and up andusually on the top floors, a good 6 to 7 floors off the ground in a thin long winding spial staircase.
The youth hostels are about $200.00 a night for bunk in dorm like rooms. Theire are a lot of rtip-offs at the youth hostel which caters to a lot of european thives.
Avoid doing drug deals on the street. Many algerians and Surinamese like to rip off white tourists from America and elsewhere. Smoke your pot in the coffee houses. buy your pot there.
ASvoid people who asked yo to step over tothe corner to look at what they say they have.
Two friends of mine got ripped off again last year. One two years before by going tolook at some hash near a canal. Four guys out of nowhere pulled a knuife on him took passport and all.
I myself was badly robbed in 1998 in a restaurant for my backpack. Two middle eastern types walked by my table in a restaurant and grabbed my back pack and were out the door and lost int he crowd.
So be careful.
And be careful with people you meet and get high with. Keep[ you bags on you or close all of the time and do not let sitting and wander away asking someone to keep their eyes on your bag.
Things disappear really easy in Amsterdam.
Remember that when you leave the Train depot in Amsterdam, several individuals will approach you about a place to stay. They will walk you to the various hotels nearby and they get a kickback from tyhe hotel operators for bringing people to their establishments.
The rooms are like little closets with a small sink and you share a hallway bathroom.
Enjoy your stay and give us all a report when you return.

[quoteno as long as you aren't freaking out and bothering people nobody is going to give you a hard time for tripping. eat shrooms on a nice day and ride the trains all around the city and explore you'll have a blast
The first time I was in Amsterdam, many years ago, while stoned out of my mind, I walked up to two cops riding bicycles (armed with guns) to ask for directions. I somehow got turned around and ended up between the docks and the red light district, which didn't seem like a very good place to be lost. They pointed me back towards the area where all the train tracks cross and sent me on my merry way. In the US I would have been tossed in a cell to rot... there had to have been cannabis smoke oozing out of my pores for as much as I had been smoking... like a kid in a candy store...
The pictures you have bring back memories, MJ. Those are exactly what I remember their packaging looking like.... though they seem larger in real life than in the pictures.

I went last summer and stayed in the biggest shithole you ever could imagine. My friend and I had very little money and weren't going to pay for a nice hotel. Most of the hostles were taken so we ending up trying this place a guy handed us a flyer for right off the train. Don't ever stay at a place like that. It was in some bar, behind in the back. The bartender had to ring you in but it was filled with some sketchy people. Plus the accomodations were aweful. 15 dirt bunk beds in a small room, and the bathroom was sick. But we survived, had no stuff stolen [though our lock was jacked with (always take your important stuf with you and hang on to it!)], and enjoyed all amsterdam has to offer. My advice; buy your stuff and then leave. The rest of the city is so beautiful you'll want to check it out.

Everybody always goes to Amsterdam, but Amsterdam can get a little overcrowded especially in the summer. So if you don't like the crowds of people you can always go to one of the other cities like Utrecht where I live. Every city has coffeeshops and the larger ones also have smart shops. Some of the drug laws; you have to be at least 18 to legally buy MJ in the shops. If you look young it's wise to take some ID with you because they have to ask. You have to be 16 to buy beer in the bar and 18 for stronger liquor. Some of the bars and clubs are open well into the morning. I don't know if smartshops have age-restriction. I think they self-regulate and won't sell to minors.
If you come in the summer there are some nice open-air music festivals like Pinkpop and Lowlands. They can suck if it rains. (Buy a lot of weed somewhere before you go in) Friday 29, Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August "A Campingflight To Lowlands Paradise is exactly what it promises to be: a true backpacker's Garden Of Eden and Holland's most adventurous cultural outdoor event, offering a choice cut of only the best in alternative music, theatre, film, stand-up comedy, visual arts, literature and fringe entertainment. Set up as a three day township with 60,000 inhabitants, the Lowlands festival features no less than six areas with ten stages (among which two cinemas and a theatre), about 350 different acts and performances, dozens of restaurants from all corners of the earth, food and drink stalls, a big market with everything from clothes and cd stores to the barber's and a tattoo shop, relax rooms, sports facilities, its own currency, a local radio station, a daily newspaper (Dutch only) and last but not least seven luxury campsites. The ultimate summer holiday extravaganza."
There are also a few huge dance-events like Sensation (july) and Mystery land perfectly suited for ecstasy use.
If you go in the summer it's cheapest to just go camping somewhere.

Coffeeshops I'd recommend:
Abraxas Coffeeshop 36 Global Chillage Grey Area
Smartshops - has to be Conscious Dreams - very helpful friendly staff One of the best museums I visited is Electric Ladyland just don't get too trashed before visiting - the stairs are very steep! I'd also recommemd a trip to the Redlight district by night under a suitable psychedelic influence. If you keep uour wits about you you'll stay safe!
I'm back in the 'Dam for another visit in July - I can't wait!

Hey mj, I couldn't believe it myself. But last night I went tripping with friends. I was gonna do a Salvia joint because I don't do mushrooms (but that's another story). My friend bought three packs of 3g of dried mushrooms here in smartshop. They were just laying in the glass counter. He talked to the owner of the shop who said that the cops aren't really enforcing the laws yet and that he was planning to keep selling them untill he gets a warning or court case. He's probably not the only one in Holland who does this.

IT is really stupid to do so becasue that is flaunting the law. There are people in the new legistlature just looking for excuses to close all of the shops up. The Conscious Dreams Smart Shops ar eht efirst to sellthe fresh shrooms and theo ones who went to court for doing so and the ones who got the ruling alowing them to sell frwesh shrooms in their shops. They have about 7 shops now all privately owned but are part of the colelctive of Conscious Dreams,.
Their head man is Hans can den Hurk.
Anyway, they shouldn't be doing that as it will hurt those who provide a legal servie to all.

Maybe it will become like cannabis. That isn't really legal but they are allowed to sell it. It's totally hypocrite to make dried shrooms illegal but not the fresh ones. They are both sold and bought with the same intent. I respect these smartshops who dare to face the government and their stupid laws. If they start enforcing this law, these smart shops will probably only get a fine and that will stop them from doing it.
But our liberal drug laws are getting in danger because of our new partly-christian government. They have plans to halve the number of coffeeshops in Holland. Luckily support for this government is already falling, and maybe things will be better in a few years when hopefully the christian partys are out of the government again.

Well as I said there are aboput 7 of those shops. I do not think the Kpokpeli is selling dried. They were only selling fresh when I went there.
And I have posted the images of the fresh.
Oh well. If they blow it then they blow it.

When I went in 1998 it was 400.00 roound trip.
Mand that was from Seattle on KLM airlines. I flew fromhere to Vancouver and vancouver to Amsterdam.
Round trip. You can get similar trips from the mid west and east coast to Amsterdam ot to Rotterdam.
Look for travel agencies, not the airlines which are three to four times more per ticket.

I'm paying ?40 for the privilege of a return flight in July Admitedly I'm flying out at 6:15AM, but that means I'll be in Barney's smoking a fat one by 9AM at the latest....
