Is it really that important? How does it work?
is 1/4inch holes really important?
wat if i have smaller holes? would that cause less FAE? and less humidity? or more humidity?
What if i dont have holes on the bottom?

Just follow the tek we all use and it will work. I personally dont put
holes on the very bottom side of mine but RR says to do all six sides.
Follow all of the video's and tek's to a T and things will all be well 4 U

Volume wise, a 1/4 inch hole every 2 inches would be the same as an 1/8th inch hole every inch. You could also predrill with an 1/8th inch hole, and if the material is strong enough just shove something like a screw driver in there that is 1/4 inch.
Fresh air > humidity.

It would be the same as an 1/8" hole ever half inch. A quarter inch circle has 4 times the area an eighth inch.
But that is besides the point. Other size holes and configurations have been tested and none work as well. Just follow the directions.

There is a reason RR pounds this into everyone time after time after time after time.. It's a proven tek..absolutely no reason to change things around unless you actually think you are improving (but you are cutting corners).
If you don't have a 1/4 inch bit.. go buy one..they are 99cents or LESS.
You want holes on all 6 sides..yes 6. Spaced 2 inches apart. If for some unfathomable reason you can't get a 1/4 inch bit, then I would follow what the above poster said. You need the correct number of holes to promote proper FAE while keeping humidity up. Definitely do not sacrifice your sgfc because you are in a rush..your fruits will pay.
Good luck brotha!! Post a pic when your done. I love seeing shroomery creations.

Here is a mini one I made in like 20 minutes (I estimated bit size using a ruler & just estimated me 2" spaces..yes I know they suck ass lol).

I drilled every side including the bottom. Honestly..no reason not to drill the bottom, it is beneficial. You will not get water leakage/drainage except for the first half hour..and you can just put a tray under there. By drilling holes you allow air to penetrate from the bottom of the perlite & I am sure that must help to get moisture in the air.
This is 30 qt size (15 liters)

And as for size of the chamber, the bigger the better
Make sure you have enough perlite for the size you use, 3-6 inches is the common rule..depending on your chamber size you might need 4 inches or 5

Yeah def.. I would advice building them the size of mine for sure.. No reason to go that small. I am not fruiting any pf cakes really except these so I had no need for anything else. It's all dubtubs/bags.
Even in my little ass one I used 3.5 inches of perlite..so anything larger I would do 5. It's not expensive and reusable anyway.

Just to be sure, 1/4 for the drill bit means the red line shown in the below picture right?
Is that how to measure a drill bit?
