Un-even Pinning . . .

AFOAF has a cake that has several pins around the same size all over the cake but one shroom that has popped up and the veil has broken. Is there a safe way to remove this shroom without pulling pins along with it or should he just leave it there and let the whole thing fruit before he takes it off? *EDIT - The pins are very small and could be 5 days before they are shrooms.

YOur choice, both ways are safe. Personally I would just leave the one that has the opened veil and wait for the others to open up also if you arent in a rush. Not much potency is lost, if any at all.

Lightly grasp it at the base and gently twist it off.

Twist it off as if you had a women's clif in between your thumb and index finger.

Whenever we find ourselves with trees that areready to harvest early, we pick them, but we alos end up ripping up two or 3 smaller pins, so be careful. We just cant wait to weigh the huge ones.

take a sterile pair of foreceps, like the doctors use to tie stitches up, and that will pinch the stem in an precise spot, preferrably right at the base of the stem, and that will allow you to reach to the middle of the cake/casing without damaging other pins.

thats what I told him but he has never done this before and was afraid that it would pull off other pins. He got it off just fine and dandy. Just a small shroom though. 5 wet grams.
