The way Earth has developed...
    #1501341 - 04/28/03 04:20 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

After living in this world for a good amount of time, I came to this odd and disturbing realization that EVERYTHING is designed for humans. This world used to be a place for all life-forms to enjoy themselves and just exist, but now it is a ground for humans.

Just look around...I mean, there are stores, parks, houses, themeparks, lakes...etc. Humans have taken over everything. The world has just become a large dollhouse for humans. Humans have even chosen the way other animals live, by making places like zoos. It's sick how humans have come to believe that we are superior to everything.

Why has the Earth turned into our playground?

yeah, its great, we can buy bean burritos and slurpees at 4 in the morning. it turned into our playground because we have opposable thumbs are advanced intellect, and a desire to control our environments......and now we bask in the achievements of our ancestors.....ahh....huge deserted parking lots.....ahhh....beautiful.

Why are we "superior" ?
Which even if we are that doesn't give us any right to do what we do. If we are superior thats all the more reason not to do these things.

i dont think the statement of human superiority legitimizes "what we do", its just a statement. but are humans superior?

whats your definition of superior? suuure, we can build lots of shit, and figure out genetics, but we cant seem to live in peace, or carry on a sustainable existance.

well you see, a long time ago, some guy invented "the tool," and from there, all hell broke lose - people started ripping off his idea, extrapolating new ideas from it, and eventually, we ended up with the internet, sports, and sliced bread.

We're not superior. Just different. We're more intelligent, but I wouldn't want to engage in hand-to-paw combat against a grizzly bear.

How do you know if we are truly more intellegent, though? I mean...we don't know the internal thought process of other animals, etc. I see why you may think so...but I mean, just because we can do more/different 'stuff' does not mean we are more 'intellegent'.

thus we arrive at the debate over the meaning of intelligence, which has allready taken placed and been deemed "a pointless waste of time"

humans ARE animals, a lot of people seem to have trouble grasping the concept that just because we speak english and can build stuff doesn't mean we're a special species  :smirk:

Superior in what way? The way we destroy our environment, and consume every resource? Or in the way that animals live in harmony with nature? If anything, I'd say animals are superior. You're the one in denial.
