Ok..today i went hunting..not real hunting..not like at the cow fields, but like in the woods a few miles..id figured theyre would be mush-rooms out because It had rained for 3 days straight, and it had been 2 days since the rain..I didnt finda single thing, i could go find some at a cow field but i dont have a car to drive to it at night.
So my question is, why cant i find any mushrooms. Im generally interested in finding some, PsychoActive or not. The place im hunting at is Beaufort, South Carolina..is anyone near this area, wannna go show me the ropes

I think me and my dad are gunna go searching..were gunna drive up to this guys ranch, and my dad is gunna make up some bullshit lie about how he works for some mytacology department, and maybe get permission to look at his shrooms:)

Don't bother lying about a mycology department. Those ranchers ain't stupid.
Just tell them you're studying mushrooms - go ahead and call it mycology if you want. It helps if you have a field guide or three along. Big bonus points if none of them have the word "psychedelic" in the title. Don't waste time showing off your cool books - just make sure they're in a place where they can be seen.
While you're talking with them, if it looks like they'll give you permission, ask if they've seen any mushrooms and where. If they tell you about any, go find them and identify them. And don't forget to tell them if they're edible or poisonous (to most ranchers active means poisonous). They may ask how to tell that they're the kind you say they are, so don't bullshit. If you don't know, at least try to get the genus and tell them about how edible or poisonous that genus tends to be. If you *really* don't know what they are, then admit it and say you're taking them home to try to figure out what they are.
They'll also tell you things like make sure to close the gate there. If they tell you that, make sure you do it.
The big thing is to be polite. If they let you hunt on their land, make sure you drop by when you're done and thank them.
BTW - lots of those ranchers want a cut of the morels you find. If you agreed to that, give them their cut and let them see the total find so they can see that they're getting a fair cut. They appreciate honesty, and if you're a good person then it'll be easier the next time you want to go out there.

yea ive grown up in a little town full of ranchers and ill tell you straight up probrobly the worst thing you can say is a lie. of course there will always be the redneck dicks but for the most part country folk are really nice people. good luck on your hunt. peace
