I found a bunch of black trumpets yesterday and I save all the pieces I cut off of the bottoms. Is there any way I could use these to grow my own trumpets? Or what about taking a spore print and inoculating something..
I tried to do a little research and I came up empty handed. I know chantarelles are nearly impossible to grow because of their symbiotic relationship with certain trees, but I I don't think black trumpets grow the same way.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you.
I do not think they can be fruited. I tried them a few years back and spread the jar contents under oaks in mossy areas and areas under oak with lots of leaf litter under the litter without any luck. You never know, it was my first try with them. I tried a similar think with a bolete once and it fruited but not cartain if the bolete was present with the tree before.
