These trivial names like GT, EQ and stuff, do they actually have a botanical background ? Is there a species called
Psilocybe Cubensis var. Golden Teacher
or something similar ?
Or are the non-trivial, latin strain names ? If so, what are they ?
? Psilocybe cubensis var. latin strain name ?
And last but not least, how do you "find" a new strain ??
Lets say i find a cubi in my backyard. Can i name it PC Jeriko ??
Hope someone can help me a little on this, mybe MJ ?
Thanks in advance for "listening"

Well MJ is definately the one to comment on this, but I think a lot of the strains are named for the area in which they are discovered, ie, Cambo's, EQ's, SAm's, Mexi's, KOH's etc. There are a few I'm not sure about such as creeper, plantasia. Then of course there's the Allen strain.

The Allen strain was created by Hydrogen who found it to be a fast colonizer. It was from an area bnear ban Taling Ngam, Koh Samui, in a separate private four paddie farm away from other locations such as Ban Hua Thanon, Ban Lipa Yai, Ban Lipa Noi, Bo Phut, The Thai 3's are froma third generation of Hawks ban Hua Thanons and are also knonw as Koh Smauis.
Euadors are P. subcubensis from Ecuador.
C ambos come from Cambodia and can be Copelandia cyanescens or Psilocybe cubensis.

Could you please also comment on exactly what a SUBcubensis is.....I've heard Ecuadors referenced this way before, and it would be educational to understand what this means, for example in contrast to a Tasmanian or Cambodian, etc..which I've only heard referred to as a "strain" ...Thanks
