Hey im new here! WASHINGTON STATE
    #1499674 - 04/28/03 12:44 AM (20 years, 11 months ago)

Hey ill be joining the mushroom hunt very soon. I have been wanting to go out and look for Morels and some Magic Mushrooms as well, but to tell you the truth I am a little afraid of the risks. We have tons of farmland where I live, but its not public property so I think I would feel weird walking around in someone elses yard. How should I go about my hunt? Should I stay out of the fields and go into the forests? Should I bring a friend? Or should I ask permission to look around peoples farms (how would I even go about doing this)? Can someone give me some info and how I actually go about hunting for mushrooms? Thanks so much! Also what are the common mushrooms found in the seattle area? More specifically closer to the cascade foothills. I can't wait to find my first mushroom!

In Seattle, 99% of the magic shrooms grow directly in the city in parks, lawns office buildings gardens in public places, new restaurants condos and apartment complexes.

in Wood chips in the late fall Oct to Dec and in lawns and pastures for AUgust on. Npo mushrooms which are magic in th PNBW fgro0w from Manure except one or two P. subbalteautus.

The most common are the blue ringers. read mhy field guide at my site.

Hey whole9, welcome to washington, it sure is beautiful here no?
Cascade foothills will hold chanterelles and the occasional boletes, honey mushrooms, oyster mushroom, matsutake, hericium, blewitts, russulas, and all sorts of other edible goodies. For Morels Im afraid you should wait till spring and look in burn areas.

For your actives just check the woodchip piles arond town. Landscaped areas, esp alder chips which are whiteish. If you want edibles from the cascades we can talk more later. Cheers.

Whitishish right, but don't even bother unless they look grey to black enough to trouble yourself. Bear claw, I would love to have you as a resource for edible hunting advice and ID's. Welcome to the Shroomery!
