Gymnopilus luteofolius or Gymnopilus aeruginosus ?
    #14996853 - 08/29/11 02:00 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Thy were in a horse field growing under some pine trees the cap is red with yellows in it. The stem is yellow at the bottom and the same red thats on the cap going up the stem. The gills are yellow. Its a beefy mushroom looks just like a Gymnopilus aeruginosus.Spore print waiting. If it is how many does one eat?

The real reason to assume  G aeruginosus would be the intense blueing. which i dont see.

If they are Gymnopilus, G. luteofolius is a good guess.  Its hard to see the features I need to see to have much of an opinion on the ID of this collection.

Check the G. luteofolius and G. aeruginosus pictures on mushroomobserver.org and see what species your collections most closely resembles.

There seems to be a problem with the shroomery picture hosting, try putting the pics on mushroomobserver.org.

Also check for an orange spore print, smell of anise and bitter taste, as well as green staining on the base of the stems and on the cap.
