If he is found to be legally incompetent then they can take his weapons. Someone would have to file a motion to have him declared so, and go through the process. That would be fine with me.

Like Rono said, Alzheimer's is a lot more than losing your memory. A friend of mine worked in the 'combative ward' of an alzheimer's clinic, and she would come home with black eyes from old geezers suddenly freaking out.
