Don't do that, cause it has not been confirmed by a TI

You might get really sick

It was definetely a placebo, cause pored mushrooms that bruise blue are never active. You might have an edible bolete, but it seems like identifying boletes on this site to exact species is difficult to do

There's several rec and yellow boletes that have yellow pore surfaces that stain blue, some rapidly, some at a slower rate. I personally have found so so so many red and yellow boletes, but have noticed too many subtle differences in them, even the ones I collect right next to each other, that I've never felt I could positively ID them without having someone's experienced and expert help. I even bought this huge coffee table  sized book on identifying boletes, but even with that the best I can usually do is narrow it down to a few different ones.

I would love for someone with many decade more experience with boletes than I do to help put out a boletes for dummies type of book. Supposedly there are so many safe ones to eat, but they've been the hardest type of mushrooms so far for me to identify...

You are ignorant. There is no chance you will trip off of eating a Bolete. There is a definite possibility that you poison yourself and get real sick. You should learn a new hobby.

It won't make you trip but it won't kill you, so go ahead and satisfy your curiosity and vindicate what you thought before you arrived here -- that we'd know more about it than you.

Then next time you can listen to us and not your dipshit friend.

As far as I know there are very few blue staining boletes that are edible. None of them make you trip, and they are all difficult to ID, since you're clearly extremely inexperienced at best, I wouldn't say you're ready to make that call.

Well maybe I misread everything I looked up on boletes. Do you have anywhere for me to look for accurate info on bolete edibles? I find a decent bit of boletes compared to other edibles, so this would be extremely useful knowledge for me. At least it would make me feel cool, and save a few bucks on a meal or two.

I'd be happy with a Bolete guide to North America

I find a shit ton when I go out every time, but don't even bother with them because they rarely get identified to species on here

I don't think that I have the skill to I.D. them myself either, with the books that I have at least

I don't. I just knew it wouldn't kill me and GK said that he ate loads of blue staining ones and was fine, so I tried them and they were tasty.

They looked like this...

Cool shit. I find ones similar to that constantly. I've also read that as long as they don't have red or orange pores that they're good to eat. Does that hold true?
